My Warthog stick was not working well in VR Oculus. The axis controls didn’t work well, moved very little with the controls. Buttons worked well. After a lot of trial and error, my issue was due to the VR hand controls. In DCS config, I disabled the VR hand controls and the stick started working well again. Seems like under some conditions, the VR hand controls interfere with the HOTAS.

Hope this is useful for anyone struggling with this, especially newbie like me.

Do you mean the handcontrollers or the hand tracking?

If you mean the hand controllers: DCS just likes to assign axis binds to any new controller it detects. With the controllers active, check in the DCS controls setup, if any axis are bound to it.

If you mean hand tracking: there is an option in the DCS VR settings…something like „hands move throttle and stick“ or something… That might be the problem.

I mean hand controllers, not hand tracking. I don’t think I am familiar with how to check the axis binding, will fiddle with it to see if I can figure that out. But sounds likd DCS detects controller on its own and that probably is the reason why the behavior is not what the player expects. So, probably safer to keep the hand controllers disabled in DCS if using HOTAS. Thanks!

Uhmm…at some point you probably assigned axis and buttons on your HOTAS in DCS, right? Now you go to that same controls options menu and check, if something else (e.g. handcontrollers) are also assigned to the pitch or roll or thrust axis and delete that binding.

If you delete any unwanted axis bindings, the controllers work just fine. No reason to be „safer“. DCS won‘t assign them again to that controller (usually).
