Solid tabletop recommendations for desk mounts

I've just purchased a couple of VKB UCM desk mounts, which I have clamped to my flight stand, but I'm considering going back to a desk mounted setup. The problem is the last time I used desk mounts on my IKEA table they damaged the underside. So I'm thinking of replacing the top with something more solid. Does anyone know of a good recommendation, say from IKEA or Amazon? I've looked at a few but the descriptions often seem a bit vague on exactly what they're made from or how dense they are.
