Delta Kilo Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Dear King39 and anyone who is not sure if he / she should buy this game, For a long time, I didn’t want to buy the campaign based on all the negative comments about it. Until I read a comment from one user saying that there is a lot of effort and details in this campaign and that this person bought the campaign to support you, King39. And I changed my mind, because everybody starts as a beginner and gets better by time, and you should encourage campaign makers to continue and not pinning them down! Now to my feedback: I really had my fun and enjoyed this campaign! And I don’t regret that I bought it. The campaign doesn’t get boring, there are several surprises, e.g. you finished your original task, and then you get called back to land to reload your plane for another, new task and get your debrief while loading your plane. For those who are considering buying the campaign, I must say, that this campaign is not for people who want to hop into the game, play one hour and then call it a day. Some missions took me more than 3h to complete, due to the stupidity of AI wingmen! There are also some points to be considered. It is not a 100% realistic campaign; the Russian Airforce is not present. They invade Georgia basically without air support. The same for a mission where you penetrate into Russia, no Mig at all. But for me it was ok, so I could concentrate on my air to ground tasks. But there is one thing I really dislike and that is that I was not able to modify the payload of my flight! Because of the stupidity of AI wingmen, who use to crash into mountains, I prefer them to be long range attackers by using Mav´s and High-altitude bombers. And when they are loaded with laser guided rockets and use them, they all get shot down. Why not leave it to the player to either follow your suggestion and realistic payload or adopt it to ED logic? And I prefer to check my flight with “F2”. I need this feature to check how much ammo they still have, since we do not have a function for this in the comms menu. But this was not possible, because you disabled the function. I really would appreciate if you, King39, could consider these 2 points for your next campaign, which I am looking forward to. As a resume: Yes, the campaign is not 100% realistic and sometimes doesn’t seem to be logic. And there are bugs, some related to King39 and probably most of them related to ED game logic and changes from patches. But if you want to have some fun and do a lot of Brrrrrrrrrt, buy it (you can always wait for sales, if you want to reduce the “risk”). I think this campaign is especially good for pilots who just finished flight school and still need to work on complexity and situational awareness. Thanks for this campaign and I hope to see soon more from you, King39! BR, DK
King39 Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 @Delta Kilo Hello, I wanted to personally thank you for taking a chance on my first campaign and also respond to a few of your comments: Quote I really had my fun and enjoyed this campaign! And I don’t regret that I bought it. That's great and you don't know how glad I am that you enjoyed it. Quote Some missions took me more than 3h to complete, due to the stupidity of AI wingmen! SIGH!, YES, unfortunately, all the campaign developers are at the mercy of the AI logic and the E.D. coders, as good as they are, are only able to do so much with the current state of the game's AI logic. Quote It is not a 100% realistic campaign; the Russian Airforce is not present. They invade Georgia basically without air support. Agreed. But remember, the Hog was not designed as an air superiority aircraft. It was designed specifically to kill Russian tanks crossing into Germany during the Cold War. While it does have two stations for anti-air missiles, they are there purely for defense if they were ever caught without air cover. And while it can out turn many 4th Gen jets, it loses significant energy in most, if not all, BFM maneuvers. It is NOT a jet to take into a Furball. In hindsight, I think it would be interesting to have it engage a Frogfoot but, again, without even a basic radar to see a Bandit, the odds of mixing it up with another aircraft are very low and would be a matter of pure chance with them being in the same airspace at the same time. So, to respond to your comment, it has to be assumed that there is air superiority AND C3 assets for the A-10C to be able to do it's thing. And THAT is the reason why the aircraft is currently being divested (removed) from the USAF inventory. It just CAN'T perform in a (enemy) contested airspace. It has to rely on Air Superiority assets as well as C3 (AWACs). And that is the reason why the F-35 is so important: it can do both things by itself. Quote But there is one thing I really dislike and that is that I was not able to modify the payload of my flight! Now, I'm not sure what you are describing because I went to great lengths in designing these missions so that the Player CAN alter the payload to their own preference. And for the 1 or 2 missions that did require specific ordinance, I declared that in the beginning of the mission during startup. NOW, having said that, you should be aware that IRL A-10 pilots, with very rare exceptions, do NOT have a say in what their loadout will be for any mission. They get what they get. Please let me know specifically to which mission you are referring. Quote And I prefer to check my flight with “F2”. I need this feature to check how much ammo they still have, since we do not have a function for this in the comms menu. But this was not possible, because you disabled the function. As far as I'm aware, I did not disable this function. You should be able to see that in-game. If it's not working was it possibly disabled in your system? Quote I think this campaign is especially good for pilots who just finished flight school and still need to work on complexity and situational awareness. Wow! That's really GREAT! Thank you because I envisioned this campaign specifically for beginning to moderately experienced A-10C pilots. I created it as a place for pilots to get in and have fun without having to become too involved in the more detailed aspects of DCS World. Quote Thanks for this campaign and I hope to see soon more from you, King39! YES! Look for Lt. Col Took Key (he was promoted after Operation Agile Spear) to continue the fight against ISIL and the Syrian Army in Operation Syrian Freedom sometime this summer.
