Setting up a server issues

A few friends and I have bought the DCS and after a week or so trying to get the heli off the ground, we wanted to try just flying around with each other without getting shot down.

 

I have tried two methods. FIrstly, starting up the multiplayer normally and setting up a server then getting someone to join via IP address. Secondly, by using DCSMAX. On both occasions, when someone joins and we try to fly, a few issues come up:

 

• After a very short time after the scenario loads, the other person drops and the server restarts back to the lobby with just me in it. Occasionally, he will just drop and I sit there.
  
• On every occasion he cant get rid of the pause icon in the top right whereas, when I click the pause key, I can startup.
  

Could anyone help me? Also, to just fly around together without having to use the weapons, whats the best type of scenario to load?

Make sure to have port 10308 opened and forwarded correctly in both TCP and UDP protocols on both router and firewalls.

yeah, I added that port to my router so that the other person could join ok. If that part wasn't right I dont think they'd be able to join........

 

I checked the windows firewall and DCS is all okay too ...

 

Just weird that it gets to a point of either him being kicked OR the server restarting...

The question is - do they have those ports open on both protocols?

 

EDIT: Also, even if you didn't have the ports correct they would be able to join, but traffic would not work and the server would desync and quit. Been there. ;)

thanks again. I just checked the router settings and the port was set for TCP only for that port and not both.........

Staybullex check this out..... its not your fault its a bug... hopefully the patch will fix it. i started this thread a while ago. the only way to fix it is for your friends to let you know somehow what the port is showing behind your IP on the server list and for you to add that port to your router but to have that port translate to 10308....... so your Public port will be the random one and the private port on your router will be 10308....
