Harry Cockpit Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 (edited) Could use help doing this, as far as being able to recon a sam/AAA from outside its radar range, and have it appear on my abris screen. I know of the wingman commands, and the scan mode. Do not know how scan mode works. trying to play with no labels on. Edited April 27, 2009 by Harry Cockpit
connos Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Scan mode just move the SHKVAL horizontally to the speed you specify. It doesn't save targets or anything else. I personally don't find it any useful i don't know others. EtherealN Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Agreed with connos - I don't use the scanning mode. When I scan the battlefield ahead of me I just place the Skhval seeker on suspicious spots with the helmet sight (and laser offline - don't want to burn it out), and then I scan it around the terrain to look for anything that might be out of the ordinary - if I find something interesting I stop there and inspect it through zooming the Skhval on it. If it is then verified as a target I will lase to get range, or send it as a target to my wingman or whatever else I judge necessary. The really important thing though is that if it isn't within range I usually don't go after it anyway until I am 100% certain that my terrain scan is complete - and even then I will be looking left and right at least 2-3 times per minute, because I always assume that there's some bugger somewhere that I missed. I then perform my attack and then quickly move to an area that I know is safe, and repeat the task from another angle. JG14_Smil Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 scan mode helps you see a larger area when you are flying. No reason in the world not to use it. Speed it up two clicks on the speed adjustment but slow it back down before entering combat.
