CrazyGman Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) Trying to get nose aspect using flood mode to work I came across this odd behavior which doesn't make sense to me. If in the parameters shown in the video at low alt with a high speed closing target I keep the aspect knob set on nose the aim-7 won't track anywhere inside 4nm. If i run the scenario again this time in fwd aspect mode the aim-7 still won't track. However if i run it again but this time once they are within 4nm I quickly switch from nose to fwd aspect and then fire withen 2-3 seconds, the missile will always track, and also if I switch from fwd to nose and fire within 2-3 seconds the missile will always track. I'm not sure if this is a bug but i don't understand why the missile won't track in one mode or the other, but will right after the mode has been switched within a few seconds Edited June 4, 2024 by HB_Painter Classification of Bugs and User reports 2
SgtPappy Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) Holy cow, this might explain why mine never guide either. I'll try this workaround. Personally, I think this is a bug. Unless I'm missing another nuance, the Sparrows should guide. I'll check if toggling the CW switch works as well, as maybe there's an issue with air spawns. EDIT: toggling CW off then on did not work. I had the same issue as OP but I have even less success - only 3 of maybe 24 missiles fired though perhaps I'm not keeping the target close enough to boresight as needed. Please see attached track. JNelson Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Hey, you guys are correct, this appears to be a bug in the doppler gate setting. 3 1 Community A-4E-C
