Ahdidaas Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Hi friends, A couple weeks a created a thread complaining that every 10-15 secs I'd get a 1/2s hang. In that thread, I ended up saying it resolved itself -- whatever was interfering decided to stop. Well I noticed it comes back, usually after I restart the pc. Would I be able to log what runs/takes cpu usage when I play DCS? When I alt-tab over to the task manager, I'm not really able to line up what I see with what's happening in VR since I can only look at one at the time. What have y'all done in the past to see what's interfering w/ your VR session so you can shut it down? Thanks!
diego999 Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) I use GPU Temp and Core Temp, very simple programs that show GPU and CPU usage, temps, voltages, etc., with the very elegant method of peeking below the VR googles to look at the monitor while I'm playing DCS. Open XR Toolkit has an overlay that shows CPU and GPU frametimes inside the game while you're flying. That's important information too that migh help you pinpoint the source of the problem. Bazz_Mulder Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Go to SavegGames\DCS and remove all stuff from "mods" folder and non-essentials from "scripts" folder. Check then Kowalsky - "Fox 3" simply means that you have commitment issues
WipeUout Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Install process lasso and you will see all programs and process that are using your CPU during your sim session. Ahdidaas Posted June 9, 2024 Author Posted June 9, 2024 Ok, I got further, I notice that when I get cpu bound, these two removable usb drives spike; I have no external usb drive though, I'm not sure what these are infact...null they're listed as "norelsys 1081cs0 USB device". and are showing up as drives E: and F:
Ahdidaas Posted June 9, 2024 Author Posted June 9, 2024 and i can confirm when the spikes stopped on these two disks, the cpu bound issues and stuttering stopped.
Aapje Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 That is a flash/SD card controller, which connect to the USB bus: https://www.norelsys.com/product/item/4586.html Do you have an SD card or such in the card reader? If so, you can try removing it. You can also see if there is a driver update, or reinstall the driver for the card reader. 1
Aapje Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 BTW, you could have ReadyBoost enabled: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost If so, you should disable it. 1
Ahdidaas Posted June 21, 2024 Author Posted June 21, 2024 I disabled them in device manager. I'm using a usb-c hub for my keyboard+mouse+external cooling fan (gotta use all the other ports for my sim stuff!), it has two memory slots. ty!
