Hello,

I am encountering issues with Jester where the AI refuses to react to my radar requests through the Jester wheel menu. If I request a change in radar scan range (50/25 or narrow/wide scan) the AI will verbally acknowledge, but then not make the change to the radar, so I'll essentially be stuck in a wide, 50-mile scan with the radar pointing dead ahead. I am in A/A mode and have "radar" selected.

Is anyone else encountering this and if so, what can be done?

Thanks

If at the time when you order a range setting Jester is focused on a target track, he'll maintain the range at which the target track is. Other than that, he always follows range and scan width orders (in may experience).

Yeah, these settings are for "standard scan". He stops doing standard scan the moment a bandit enters the 30nm range.
This behavior can be deactivated in the wheel, it's called Auto Target Focus.

Thank you both for responding!

In this case Jester isn't focused on a target or even acknowledging that a bandit is there or taking any steps to achieve a track. Just aimlessly scanning at 50 miles and takes no direction if I request a change in radar azimuth, range, or altitude.

Perhaps he is currently working the Pave Spike or otherwise locked in such a mode. Can you swap into the WSO pit when it happens and share a screenshot of his panels (dscg and radar panel)? :)

I get that after the engagement is over and the sky is perfectly clear; not so much as a seagull, and I've fenced in.  No pavement, no spikes, not a pound for air to ground on these missions...  Stuck on 5nmi and whatever other oddness he threw in there.  I have to go back into the WSO seat to get the radar where I want it.

Then other times I fence in and when I look up we're back at 50.  I think Jester is just prickly.  I generally don't mind that; I can be a little prickly myself, then he decides to depart the aircraft and I can't even go into the back seat (because he took that with him) to fix things.
