felixx75 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 (edited) Every time you activate the AFCS, the airplane gets a clear roll impulse to the right or left. Tested in air start and cold start (MT-Version) strange AFCS behavior cold start.trk strange AFCS behavior.trk Edited June 5, 2024 by felixx75 1
hornblower793 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Are you wings level(ish) before you engage AFCS? If not, it might be trying to get back to the roll attitude you were at when you hit the AFCS switch Windows 11 Home ¦ Z790 AORUS Elite AX motherboard ¦ i7-13700K ¦ 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory @ 5600MHz ¦ Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD for OS, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD for DCS ¦ MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24GB ¦ Virpil WarBRD base with VFX grip, Thrustmaster A10c and F/A-18 grips ¦ VKB Gunfighter Mk4 and MCG Pro ¦ Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle ¦ VKB STECS Throttle ¦ Virpil TCS rotor base with Shark and AH-64D grips ¦ MFG Crosswinds ¦ Total Controls Multi-Function Button Box ¦ Pimax Crystal

hornblower793 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Interesting - I have just flown and didn't notice this when I engaged AFCS so will have another look later tomorrow evening when I am back at my PC Windows 11 Home ¦ Z790 AORUS Elite AX motherboard ¦ i7-13700K ¦ 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory @ 5600MHz ¦ Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD for OS, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD for DCS ¦ MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24GB ¦ Virpil WarBRD base with VFX grip, Thrustmaster A10c and F/A-18 grips ¦ VKB Gunfighter Mk4 and MCG Pro ¦ Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle ¦ VKB STECS Throttle ¦ Virpil TCS rotor base with Shark and AH-64D grips ¦ MFG Crosswinds ¦ Total Controls Multi-Function Button Box ¦ Pimax Crystal
Relayer Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I've definitely noticed this a few times, along with occasionally random uncommanded roll 'kicks'. I was unsure whether it was a bug, or whether it was 'authentic jank'. 1
Zabuzard Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 The AFCS and the ROLL STAB channel can both induce uncommanded roll while they try to counter your input. This can even lead to small oscillations. Some pilots preferred with ROLL STAB channel turned off. In the special options, you can configure the threshold for what you need to input to overcome the effects.Whether this is what has happened to you or not, hard to guess without more details and perhaps a video or short track :)
felixx75 Posted June 6, 2024 Author Posted June 6, 2024 I had wondered because I had not observed this behavior before the patch. I noticed it immediately on the first flight after the patch. 3 hours ago, Zabuzard said: Whether this is what has happened to you or not, hard to guess without more details and perhaps a video or short track How about the two tracks from my initial post... 1
thodre Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 (edited) I got that too, but never to the degree that it really affects anything. It's like a haptic feedback AFCS is activated edit: It was already there before the hotfix. Edited June 6, 2024 by thodre

primus_TR Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Actually, this behavior is described in the manual.

Then it was probably a hidden fix, since this behavior was not there before... Apparently HB itself doesn't know about this hidden fix ^^ If this behavior is correct, all good. But I noticed the change in behavior on the first flight, hence the follow-up message.
