Hexpul Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I don't see a "OH-58D" Thread for bug reporting but I do believe this is a DCS core issue. I have seen several times through the community mentioning the skids on heli's in DCS don't have friction. Is there a way to fix this so heli skids act "properly". One example is sitting at idle the Kiowa wants to YAW to the right when on cement.
Czar66 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) They do have friction. Isn't the problem the lack of static friction? UH-1H also lacks it. https://www.britannica.com/science/static-friction Example: The helicopters in DCS don't produce acceleration while sliding on ramp from just wind being present. -> presence of the basic friction that acts like the kinetic friction we can observe when intentionally sliding the skids. But it is too easy to start the slide from a stand still from any kind of force. I've saw the Kiowa in DCS yawing then turning on its engines from a video demonstration on youtube. Looked weird. I don't own the Kiowa, though, but I've felt similar phenomenon on the Huey. Edited June 10, 2024 by Czar66 1
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Yes it causes issues for the Apache as well: Casmo explained it well in several of his videos. It indeed seems to be a core DCS issue... 1 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON
LuseKofte Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 It has traction on single pads. On Tarmac no traction. You need to hold stick almost all the way back and push it forward again when getting lift. That is a bit off.
