C-701 Won't Lock

I'm following Chuck's guide and got a ship on the tpod and the C-701 slaved to it. I'm less than 10nm away and on auto mode. However the C-701 won't lock on. Anyone know why this is? Screenshot for clarity:

It's not made to lock onto ships, and probably won't do much damage, but I believe it should be set to more than 15m.

ah, it doesn't like ships, that could explain it. i did eventually get a lock but not until i was like 6nm out and i had to manually click on it

I was able to lock ships but it was easier when I set target size to 45m.
