markturner1960 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 So I want to check everything is set as it should be - been reading stuff about recent windows updates and the recent DCS update messing with settings causing performance issues....which I have since recent update to both windows and DCS What should these be set to for my CPU and how to adjust if needed oplease? Any other stuff I should check? System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
BitMaster Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 The only thing I do with my own 5900X is setting a manual OFFSET of -26 for all cores in Bios. In simple terms, I undervolted it. Use AMD's Ryzen Master App to measure each cores max Offset and either use set "per core" setting, or settle with a setting all cores can run with, with my CPU all cores do -26, some would do -28 but I thought dialing back 2 ticks is never a mistake. FYI; -30 is max negative Offset ( biggest undervolt ).My -26 does result in ~150MHz more on the top performing cores on CCD1 ( 4950MHz with Offset ) and overall less wattage/less heat. I would certainly NOT overclock it the "old" way, more volts more heat for 150-200MHz more. Instability, wear&tear and foremost HEAT will haunt you. I tried a lot out of curiosity and tbh, it won't pay back. Offset the Volts and call it a day. 1 Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
