pengjn Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Hi guys, i literally just finished building my first PC and have got Black Shark installed as my first sim. Everything is awesome apart from not being able to control the collective with the throttle slider. I've tried various axis configs in the options and i can see the slider responding, so i know it works. Any ideas? I'm running W7 64bit RC. Everything else seems PERFECT. Loving Black Shark so far. EtherealN Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Have you found "INS Control Collective"? If yes - remove it. If you have found "Flight Control Collective" under "Axis Commands" and it still doesn't work, then it's worse. In that case - which axis did you set it to there? Perfect - i have removed it and also clicked 'slider' on the axis tuner screen. Annoyingly the 'Easy avionics' setting seems to give you auto collective if i've understood well. I want to learn how to fly the aircraft but i need a lot of help on the weapons/nav front given that it's day one. Is there a way to get help on the weapons/aiming/nav but leave the collective manual or have i missed something? EtherealN Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Well, to be honest, you don't need any help on the weapons and nav front. You don't use any weapons and do not do navigation while learning to fly the aircraft. Those systems are something you start schooling on once you are well practiced in the actual piloting. So I would say, ditch easy avionics and go full realism, but just make sure to do one thing at a time. To try to learn everything at the same time in a chopper like that is just begging for frustration - hell, even in gliders we actually started with as little as just the rudder in the beginning (for the first tow launch) and then progressively worked our way through the various controls. So unfortunately I cannot answer the question on the weapons and aiming assists, but I can repeatedly urge you to do it all on full realism BUT to make sure to do it one thing at a time. Learn to fly. THEN learn to navigate by the PVI-800. THEN learn to navigate the ABRIS. THEN learn the weapons. THEN learn the datalink. And so on. It does take a bit of time, but it does feel very rewarding when you get there, and you won't have the massive frustration you would get from forgetting things because you were doing several things at the same time - and you won't have the frustration of having learned "wrong" through the easy modes when you catch up with those systems in your training.
