born2thrill Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Hi gents Just bought BS yesterday and finding it very difficult lol (first chopper sim)... but ive managed to get my landings down and doing ok with weapons but gotta learn the hole ABRIS systems yet! Im just posting to ask if you can join servers via HyperLobby as im usualy on there in il2 on the Warclouds server, sorry if its been asked already?! Thanks in advance for any help S!

It is outdated application, hovewer there is in-game server browser which lets you browse and join any server. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... On servers are always about 10-20 people. Depends of server of course but it is average amount of playing folks :). Catch on server and practice. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Ensure that Windows firewall, hardware firewall and/or routers are not blocking either the application (dcs.exe, not launcher.exe) or those ports. EtherealN Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I should add that you can get it to seemingly almost work through having only one protocol open. If I understood it all correctly the server will be communicating certain things over UDP and other over TCP, and if it only has the TCP it can cause behaviour like you logging in but not getting unpaused (but you'll have chat and you will get "Person X has landed in Moscow" messages, until you get timeouted). A final extra note - if you have verified that they are all open, but you still have issues, you could attempt opening 10307 and/or 10309 on those protocols as well. I have a very very very vague recollection of someone mentioning solving their problems that way a long time ago (and I did open those myself but never verified that they actually had caused a problem). Someone with more experience of handling the server-side of DCS could probably correct me and/or elaborate on that.
