I'm cutting my teeth on Shooting Range mission, but have a few problems.

1. How do i complete the mission? i take off, i goto Range, i destroy some targets, mission completion says 0%, i return to runway and land at night, i manage to land on the runway, and as i touch down and taxi. all the power dies, lights and instrruments off, blades and engines still turning, i fumble around and find the battery switches are off so i re enable them, weird.

2. are there any headlights on the chopper? it's pitch black and i can't see anything in front or to the sides of me, i taxi using the abris map hoping theres nothing in front of me.

3. upon quitting the mission and going to debriefing it tells me that all the targets i hit were buildings, when they were clearly tanks and trucks??

Notice that the hit buildings occur *before* the mission start. I think it has to do with the game engine setting up destroyed buildings.

This mission suffers from a know issue that static object -of which this mission is made-, are much tougher than active units. You'll need 3-4 sometimes more Vikhrs for a tank. Attack soft targets for this one.

We actually have TWO lights on the Ka-50. See the Flight Manual,

Landing Lights and Voice Warning ("Betty") Control Panel

switches 1 and 2, or

L - RShift

Light landing search On/Retraction/Off

L - RCtrl

Lights landing search change Main/Reserved

Thanks Jack, I found the light switch, hiding behind the cyclic, I've now managed to complete the mission 26%, It's a shame there's no 'repair' option for the maintenance crew, what do you do if your choppers damaged but you've landed at home base and want to complete the mission, is it ok to use the rcover option for a new chopper?....I want to fix the one I got though!?

I also rearmed and went back to the range, things were fine i was shooting up trucks, then suddenly it started firing short even though my vkhir sight was on a target, i tried resetting everything but the same happened, I flicked the vkhr switch off (the far left switch next the helmet switch) that was fun! the chopper went haywire.

I just got my first repair this evening.

-Land on concrete (I think I read that somewhere)

-Shutdown chopper completely, blades stopped, rotor brake, etc.

-Wait 3 minutes or so. (In single Player, accel the time with LCTRL-Z, 1x time LSHF-Z).

There is no radio message to the crew to ask for repairs.

Notice that when your Vikhrs are falling short, you don't get the TA-TD indication on the HUD. This probably indicates your laser is burned out from too much "ranging". Search the forums for a lot of discussion about "Problem with laser range finder".

That's not the "Vikhr off" switch - that doesn't exist; it's the Targeting Computer Power switch.
