attyla_pl Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 (edited) After the release of the 2.9 update, flying in multiplayer has become unfeasible, randomly most often after 5-10 minutes I get disconnected from the server (I checked a few) with the message "Connection failed Can't connect". , it doesn't help anything whether I run g on monitor or play VR, it is absolutely random sometimes I can be online 2 hours and today I got disconnected 5 times. From what I found out I'm not the only one with the same problem and message. Internet connection 100Mbit, Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB RAM, RTX 4080. dcs.log Edited August 10, 2024 by attyla_pl

In last Retribution missions using my own modular dedicated server Im suffering continuous "timeouts" or "connection failed cant connect", when rest of squadron players still on server without any issue. Internet connection can not be the problem due to the fact that server is join to that connection....

Wrecking Crew Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) Same here. We think it is a Render issue, only happening in Multi Player. I can fly the same mission in SP no problem. Saw this from a log file (attached) -- 2024-12-07 00:47:35.326 INFO VISUALIZER (9248): render thread has stopped === Log closed. Many times I will click on a slot and the game freezes with the blue circle and crashes. I'm getting Frame Time spikes along with FPS stutters. And as an observation, when I run a proxy to show the map on my tablet, in MP it shows 'Error adding objects' and then resets itself to center screen; no problems in Single Player, just Multi Player. dcs.log.old Edit: add the server logs.. Edit: this was in Caucasus, continued problems there. I flew several hours yesterday w/o any problems in Syria. This has been going on for years. Please fix this. It makes no sense to undertake a flight when you’re constantly worried about getting disconnected. I would try removing them and doing a slow repair on your DCS because you seem to have file issues. Also, you're consistently getting a 183 ms ping which is pretty high and could be contributing to your disconnects/connection issues. That's an internet issue on your end, not a DCS issue.

No mods that I know of. I'm not a mod person. The 183ms ping is because I play from Argentina; I've been playing since Black Shark 1, and it was never a problem (years ago). I can play other games (like Arma 3) with a 200 ping for basically unlimited time without disconnecting. A friend in the USA also experiences regular disconnections from servers. And I constantly hear in SRS "Did the server crash or is it me?" I don't want to be mean, but no one can assert with a straight face that DCS is a stable game to play in multiplayer. I understand that it's an extremely complicated simulator, with a lot of third-party content, aircraft, combined arms, and the codes that are implemented on the servers. But there comes a point where it doesn't even make sense to sit down and do all the VR setup and dedicate a few hours to this if you're going to get disconnected of the server with a 50% certainty (being kind). rob10 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 OK, no mods. Have you done a repair, because you're getting a bunch of texture errors that typically don't show up in logs? If getting disconnected >50% of the time was happening to a large portion of the MP audience in DCS I can guarantee you the forums would be exploding with fury. Which suggests that at least on some level it's an issue on your end, not ED's. Don't have much knowledge with troubleshooting connection issues so can't help you there. For the record I can easily say with a straight face that DCS is stable in MP for me. If I think back over the last year I can't think of a single disconnection I've had, and there was one patch that caused a couple of server crashes, but for ME it's not an issue.

It's unclear how many MP players have sessions longer than 2 to 5 hours. I estimate I fall within the ±3% range of DCS players, and if this issue is VR-related, it may be even smaller. I've faced hundreds of disconnects over the years, but this is my first time raising it here. And many times, evident bugs have gone unaddressed for months. So I don't know about the forum exploding with fury. Also, I have three friends with whom, like 4 times a year, we all got spare time at the same time and we play together. It's almost certain one of us will lose connection. Since I'm the only one of the four of us using this forum, I find the activity here not representative of the game's overall state. We all four of us play VR, and I'm starting to think this might be VR related. The one friend in the United States (no 180ms ping), is the one with whom I play with most often, and he has the same exact problem. Anyway, I'm going to try a repair, to see about the textures error. I saw it several times, but the log always has many errors, so I thought it was another normal error, thanks for the tip.
