Hi! At start of mission 05 (maritime rescue mission) it says the ships location is marked on the map. As far as I can tell, it is not marked on the map.

As one is also given a heading, and a homing beacon, it's not a big issue at all. But maybe you could look into whether that location is actually given in the map. Could be me being blind as well ofc 🙂

No problem to find the Ship with FM Homing anyway. But landing on these containers is a pain for my skids 🤨

Hey,

Oh yes, it is not easy and probably the most challanging landing in the whole campaign. But you can do it, align with the wind and take your time, do not rush yourself even if the time is ticking. And no worries, your skids fit to the containers. 😎

no i dont think so, i think i got confused as to where the stern of the ship was, so i landed on the smaller crates which broke my skids. ive found generally dcs doesn't like you landing places you arent supposed to be though lol

That is also my experience. It felt like dcs engine had something against landing here.
I finally gave up trying to land on it. I don't usually give up that easily.
I could imagine it's because of two containers that are next to each other. Maybe the gap is the skideater here.

I'm headaching over this too, I thought I set down gently enough to land on the containers, but I got bucked around and the skids broke.  I wonder if the best way to try to land is with the same heading as the ship, or perpendicular to it.  The rain made it really difficult to percieve motion and position.  So definitely I have met my match as a virtual pilot.

I am sorry guys, but I really needed to create one mission to f... you up. 🙈

I know it is quite tricky, it is getting dark, it is raining, windy and on top of that you get some kind limited time to complete the task. Imagine, the first version of the mission was even more dark and windy. But after the beta testers and me felt like it is to hard, I made it easier. 😂

First of all listen to Lex, he tells you to take the container at the stern of the ship, the rear side. On top of that, take your time, do not let you rush by the timer or Lex. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast, that is the key here.  And you really need to make a soft touchdown with the complete skids on the container. But trust me guys it works. 😎

Well, I had to skip this mission, probably due to DCS being quite fidgety when it comes to landing on anything not originally designed to land on. I would say I'm a fair to good pilot in the Huey and know how to Hover and land in tight places, especially on ships. I tried the landing a number of times on those two containers both regular and fore-and-aft. I'm pretty sure I got the Helo with both Skids on the containers, but regardless of what I do, they "eat" one or both of my skids and to add insult to injury, the Trigger doesn't fire. Both when making contact with the containers or by simply hovering a foot above them. So far the Trigger only fired when my Helo was violently moved by DCS while being supposed to sit on the containers and I dropped overboard.

I (and probably a number of others) would really appreciate it, if you could modify this trigger to fire when doing either a close hover or actually managing to land on those containers without being glitched overboard.

Frankly, if I had to fly this for real, I would either do a low hover, or if weather permits and the container look sturdy enough, land on them but still stay light on the skids. After all, you never know how sturdy they actually are and it would be troublesome (to say the least) if the rust below the layer of paint on top of them suddenly decides to not bear the few thousand pounds of helicopter anymore. I'd say this would classify as an awkward situation.
