Turd Ferguson Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I set ny Collective base up over the weekend to have a go with the Chinook. Both my grips (Hawk60 and Apache) are being very temperamental. It's taking a lot of fiddling each time I start my PC and install the grip to get the light then buttons to work. I think there's some dust or something in the cable. I've used a pin to try and remove anything in there and thought I'd cracked it last night but after removing the grip to test this morning it's back to fiddling to get it connected. Has anyone replaced one of these before that could give me some guidance on what cable to buy and how to do it please? I've asked Virpil and they've said it'll need to go back to them but as it's out of warranty I don't want to shell out if I can do it myself. Thanks Oh hell, let's go nuts. Guest Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I have no experience in replacing that cable myself but I did take apart the lever grip in the past. I am not saying it's super complicated but I do remember that it involved a lot of steps so I wouldn't advise an average user to try the repair. At the very least you will need to detach the lever from the mechanism box, and disassemble most of the handle to have access to the PCB to which the cable is connected.
Turd Ferguson Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 Thanks for you reply, I've stripped the insides of the base itself in the past and a few other peripherals but usually have guides to follow or an idea of how things come apart. I can't figure how this comes apart though. Virpil are going to have it back to change it instead. Oh hell, let's go nuts. Swords for forty eight thousand
