Mr_Burns Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Wow I really like this, great work. Were the tutorials you learned from on Open Hornets? I have made a few panels with code to CNC but never designed a PCB and then to size it with standoffs my head breaks as to how to this. Basically this means my abilities for panel design can only cater for inputs that screw into a plate, I am going to need to use PCB mounted switches to make some panels I need mounted to a screen.

I wish i could 3dprint that btw, i have a 5inch ESP32-8048S050N Display (exists also in 7inch) for the EUFD, so you dont need a hdmi port. Selfmade Sketch and Font. Cheers , looking forward for this project. Very interested in your solution mate. Do you have a Link where I can find info on that screen? Coding for screens like these is something I yet need to learn. Any info you could share would be much appreciated. Edited September 8, 2024 by pesbra

It’s actually quite easy. It feels overwhelming at first but if you are willing to put in a bit of time you can have the tricks you need in a week. The circuits we are designing are stupid simple. We are not building quantum computers here. Most of what I have done so far has been following A Hornets Nest tutorials. There are some aspects that he does not elaborate and you have to figure out on your own, but its just stuff that if you put your melon to work you will figure it out in a couple of hours. I’m still learning though and it is particularly important to pay attention to your mistakes, then redo the work, every new panel gets a bit easier and uncovers more challenges where you realize your should have thought farther ahead. I actually want to learn coding for CNC. I have Sherline Lathe and Mill that I’m in the process to converting into CNC. Edited September 8, 2024 by pesbra
pesbra Posted September 8, 2024 Author Posted September 8, 2024 (edited) Starting work on mounting solutions Edited September 8, 2024 by pesbra
pesbra Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Bit more progress. Modified desk to reflect CPG station a little closer and created angle mounts for the MPDsnull
pesbra Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Some further changes to adapt to mounting solution.

pesbra Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 (edited) Desk design for CPG station finished and plans uploaded to the Google drive Armament panel done. Edited September 11, 2024 by pesbra
Spitty Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Be nice to slice the cockpit off a nice 3D model and make the whole thing. https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/aircraft/helicopter/ah64-apache-helicopters

pesbra Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 (edited) I can attest to that. I just got Alain's TEDAC a few weeks ago and its fantastic. he inspired me to do this whole thing. After I got his unit I decided to learn how to do all this stuff. Unfortunately for me Alan announced he just started making v.2 of his TEDAC. I probably got one of the last batches of v.1 lol. Very curious to see what improvements you have made. I just need to get that Deskpit done to mount he thing now. Edited September 11, 2024 by pesbra
pesbra Posted September 12, 2024 Author Posted September 12, 2024 (edited) Deskpit modified to accomodate a top lid for access to the inside cavity for cable management. Added cable routing holes to the desk and Screen mounts and added aluminum profile to be able to switch between TEDAC and Winwing Topgun MIP mounted on MonsterTech mounts. pesbra Posted September 12, 2024 Author Posted September 12, 2024 Bit of progress. Encountering space problems to fit the Ignition Panel PCB. May need to modify it.

pesbra Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 A bit more progress today. I made a mount for the KDU and extended the left console a little bit to fit everything together.
pesbra Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 And started work on a KDU. This has been the most challenging so far.
pesbra Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 My good friend PVT.Hetch.B from 7Cav has decided to jump on this bandwagon and made the CMWS. We worked together on. The PCB. Still need to do a couple of modifications to the latter.
pesbra Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 (edited) I did not feel satisfied with how the KDU mount looked so I made a v2 version. Edited September 15, 2024 by pesbra
pesbra Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 (edited) Almost at the finish line. Things are starting to come together. Few modifications yet to be done to PCBs to include mounted LEDs for backlighting. PCB for the KDU needs to be worked on, and Arduino code for screens of EUFD, CMWS and KDU. I need to learn how to do that so if any of you wizkids out there want to contribute to the project your help would be most welcome. Edited September 15, 2024 by pesbra
pesbra Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 (edited) KDU Case has been modified. I have a TechCreations KDU so I modeled it going of what I had in front of me loosing sight that the that one is not 1:1 to the real one. Modified it to bring it closer to the actual unit. Edited September 15, 2024 by pesbra
pesbra Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Almost there. This one is the most challenging so far.
pesbra Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 Láser module is here. Time to start building.
