am I the only noticing that since the last couple updates the radar drops STT contacts directly in front for non maneuvering targets very easily? also, trackfiles get dropped intermitently, this is for targets in FRONT of the A/C. I don't mind the extra challenge and stress but I don't remember reading any Radar changes in the changelogs for the last updates so this must be a bug introduced recently. Just wanted to confirm if this has been reported already. Thanks!

When I posted this on Aug 25, I felt something was off, it just felt different to what I was used to but could not figure out exactly what it was. Then (as other users had reported) there was the issue with performance when a lot of AI ground and AI units were present and that ED acknowledged.

Since I was so frustrated with the performance (of the sim, not just the radar) I deciced to ROLL BACK to 2.9.5.55918 so that I could again enjoy complex SP missions (Operation Cerberus North). Whats interesting is that after the ROLL BACK, the radar performance is now again outstanding, NIGHT AND DAY, as if something was introduced after 2.9.5.x that makes the radar 'drop' contacts randomly. This is not placebo, there is no way others haven't noticed this.

I know you asked for a track file but before doing so I'll wait for the next patch as I believe there might be a relationship of the performance problems introduced with AI Ground and Air units and radar behavior and if its fixed then there's no need for a track file... will report back after the patch.

I have reported many issues with the radar this patch, judging by the last newsletter they are going to be fixed on the next update.

I have experienced the same situation. Target head on and TWS drop soft lock multiple times (in auto, so please dont start arguing that radar is not on target).

This doesn't really say anything in one direction or the other without added context.

What is the range of the target, what PRF setting are you in, what is the scan volume setting, are you trying to get a track toward the edge of the gimble limit or not (there is an issue related to this which is known). There are things that are properly modelled that will effect your track quality and some issues that are causing it to be uneccesarily unstable with the current state of the hornet radar.

You are right. Maybe I was with the radar off, or ground radar or maybe I wasnt even flying a hornet. Instead of keep loosing time thinking in all the posibilities, make a mission with a mig29 head on and watch how the locks are lost.

Again, it's going to depend. If you're trying to track that mig-29 over 50-60 miles the probability of detection is going to start to degrade enough that tracks will start dropping into memory. And gets worse with range.

That's going to be a bulk of what people are going to see. But there are other issues surrounding that.
