Is this F4 supposed to have an air flow disruption sound like most other aircraft? When I deploy the air-brake in the F4 I don't hear anything unlike most other DCS aircraft.

Thanks

Do you possible have "hear like in helmet" checked in your settings? That would possible kill the sound effect, as its not coming through the headset.

No, I don't have that on. One of the other reason's I'm asking this is because unlike other aircraft this aircraft definitely does not use the default air-brake sound that is used by most of the aircraft in DCS. I can confirm this and did. You just replace the default sound track with another sound track and that will play when the air-brake is deployed. After I confirmed the F4 is not using the default sound I was unable to locate any air-brake sound among the F4 sounds that exist inside the aircraft's director in the DCS directory.

Possibly you were looking for "airbrake", while the system is called "speedbrake" in the F4. The file is Effects/Aircrafts/External/F4E_SpeedbrakeWind. The soundeffect gets louder the faster you fly, as it is the sound of the wind force hitting the brakes and the aircraft rumbling due to that.

If you just deploy them on ground without any significant airflow, you wont really hear anything.

I saw that file when I first looked and I did play it. I'm just writing "air-brake" but I'm aware it is often called "Speedbrake". That file is in "External" with other sounds that are usually external to the aircraft like wheel brake sounds. Then there is another directory in that same parent directory called "Cockpit". My view of that was, "External" sounds are for 3rd person and "Cockpit" sounds are what you here in the cockpit. Some other aircraft do have external speedbrake sounds that are different from what is played in the cockpit. However, I will go ahead and test this tomorrow when I have some time. That will tell us for sure.

Cheers!
