ABlueSpaceBunny Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Have not played for about a month, when I do play it has been exclusively in VR which has been going great for the last 8 or so months. My game updated and now I cannot launch DCS in VR. The desktop version will launch without a problem but every time i try to launch in VR, DCS Crashes. I cannot track down if it is a DCS issue a VIVE issue or a Steam issue... I attached my crash log for any of you smart people out there, in hopes that you may be able to read and understand it and hopefully help me get this running. I Do run the OpenXR Toolkit, I think you can see the specs of my pc in the logs but just a few -32GB DDR5 @6000mhz -Intel 12700K -EVGA 3080 XC3 Ultra -Vive Pro 2 Let me know if you have any other questions about my system or anything else. Maddaawg Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Did you try it without OpenXR Toolkit or other OXR apps? ABlueSpaceBunny Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 Yes I have tried both with and without
Maddaawg Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I'm not familiar with the Vive and how it works. You can choose either SteamVR or OpenXR for the runtime? And if so, have you tried both of them? If you still have the additional command line settings in the dcs.exe shortcut, delete those since DCS runs OpenXR natively. If you're running SteamVR, that may require a different startup command. Nothing jumped out at me in your logs. You're running a program to park cores, like process lasso? There is a warning in the logs about possible stuttering because of some parking, but I am not thinking that would cause it to not start. ABlueSpaceBunny Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 Ok yes I do have process lasso, and SteamVR will not allow you to chose a runtime that I have found anyway, it just has the options in the attached images
Maddaawg Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I'm wondering if there is a need to modify the DCS.exe shortcut to not start OpenXR if SteamVR is the runtime? This is beyond my paygrade; I would put a post in the DCS VR Vive Discussion Meta Quest 3, Intel i9-10900K, EVGA 3080Ti FTW3, Corsair 64GB DDR4 3200, ASUS ROG Strix z-490-E Gaming, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M2 NVME Windows 11 Drive, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB M2 NVME Game Drive
ABlueSpaceBunny Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 will do thanks for the assistance
sleighzy Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Don't know if you ever solved this, but the crash in your logs is definitely the OpenXR Toolkit. You can install this API layers tool and untick the box for the toolkit to make 100% sure that it is actually disabled. You've said that you already tried with and without, but recommend this tool to confirm. Then try launching DCS again. If it still crashes then drop another log here containing the crash. https://github.com/fredemmott/OpenXR-API-Layers-GUI AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
