VR hand controller no longer rendering/ usable after updating to 2.9.8.1107

VR hand controllers are no longer functioning after the most recent update. I have tried a fresh install, and toggling the VR hand controller settings. Everything was working fine, up until this update. I'm using an HTC VIVE with SteamVR. As far as system specs go, Ryzen 7700X, 7800XT, 64GB DDR5 at 4800 mhz.

I have no idea where to begin, and I would like to know if anyone has encountered this issue and if there's a fix or workaround.

I've encountered the same. Quest 3.

This was driving me nuts, however I found that they aren't even in the drop down menu as options anymore, and they aren't even seen as a controller in the keybindings. I tried everything as well, rescan devices too. My controllers show up and work in the main menu as usual. Just not as controllers anymore, for me this is the biggest issue in the Kiowa, as I can't use the M4 anymore at all in VR. Tried to use it and that's how I found this issue.

I have also this hand  issue. I can see the hands after lauching DCS. But as soon as I go to Option/VR tab they disappear.


On August version I had another issue: When I have the hands visible with "no pointer/ no touch" The mouse round pointer was not visible.
And also I was needing to go to option/VR (without changing any parameter) after lauching DCS, to have the hands at the correct place.

 

I am using Virtual Desktop with a Quest 3.

I wonder what's doing this, if it's only a few people then what gives? Unless more have the same issue but not posting?

I've seen posts on Reddit about it, but as far as I know, I've been the only one on Discord with this issue. I wish I could get more information on what could be causing the issue. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get a response from anyone from ED or confirmation my bug report has been read/acknowledged.

Based on feedback in the bug report for this on the DCS Discord the following steps seem to make these work. These are done in VR and the settings modified within the VR screen in the in game config, not the new launcher.

1. Update the controller settings (don’t change anything else) to something you don’t want, save and then restart the game

2. Next update the controllers back to the setting you want, don’t make changes to anything else, save and restart the game. 
 

It has been mentioned that in some cases these settings will be lost if you make and save changes later, to be confirmed but I’m sure you’ll find out.

This issue was there in MT and ST version with Valve Index in my case even before the update and there was thread regarding it (I provided my logs). In ST version it was repaired, so I used it.

When the ST version was removed I expected that it will be resolved in the MT version too. It seems, it is not a high priority in their list.

Now I use mouse, which is less comfortable.

This did it for me, finally got it working. Thank you! Much more complicated than it should be.

I am having this issue using meta quest 3.  Hands will show up at first but if you go to VR menu they will disappear and never show up again unless you restart Dcs.   Also when hands are there at first you cannot click or toggle anything. No interaction with controls. I’ve tested with f16 and f18

I found this in log file. I don't know if it's related with the bug. I have a Pimax crystal with hand tracking module

You can safely ignore that error, it shows up in every body’s logs, may be related to when there were two different textures to the DCS gloves at one stage.

Your log shows an OpenXR API layer for Ultra Leap.  Is that the hand tracking module you’re referring to?

I'm using Quest 3 and also having this issue where they disappear when clicking the VR tab.

However, I can interact with the cockpit and menus as per normal until I click VR tab.

Same issue as above for me after today's update to 2.9.10.3948 but no fixes above work for me and I've tried them all multiple times.  Using a new Win 11 machine with 14th gen i9 and 4070 Ti Super.  Plenty of 2 TB memory open and running 64 GB RAM.  Last week, I reverted all the way back to 2.9.7.59263 and ran the ST version, VR hands worked great there with HTC Vive controllers and a HTC Cosmos Elite Headset.  No F10 basemap was the only major issue I found while flying 1V1 Air to Air solo and in a MP server with my son who also reverted to save version so we could play together.  He has now been running into crashing when selecting cluster bombs and getting Mavericks to detonate on impact while trying to run a custom mission so that version likely has other Air to Ground bugs still in it too.  Attaching my log file from the latest version.  Will be reverting back again to that old ST version using the following procedure as this seems like an issue within the MT versions (2.9.7.59263 MT had the same missing hands issue).  Please get this fixed, no fun having to revert so far back just to play in VR!!

I agree, the game's not the same for me without hand tracking

The reason I enter the VR tab to begin with, is because the hands are not correctly aligned when I first enter the game, but clicking the VR tab usually re aligns them (without doing anything else in the menu).

I hope we get it fixed in the next update 🙂
