No Dialogue after Update to 2.9.8.1214

I just did the update on 10/3/24 to 2.9.8.1214 and I no longer hear radio com dialogue. I see the text - example; asking Ground Crew to remove wheel chocks, but don't hear the dialogue. I do hear engine and other sounds, as well as background sounds/music. Also, it was working yesterday fine before I did the update. I have checked it with a couple F/A-18C missions, and its not playing in any of them - both cold starts and already airborne starts.

Hey pard,

I too had an Issue just like the one you are describing but it was months ago.

It was easy for me as all was working and then I put an aircraft mod in the mods folder. When there was no dialogue, I removed the mod, started the game and I got the dialogue back.

I hope this helps.

Well I don't have any aircraft mods. After doing the updates this morning I did go into my dcs folder and deleted files in the fxo and metashader2 folders, as I've done after pervious updates. Otherwise there was no changes from yesterday when it was working.

I will now try the "repair" feature in the new Launcher to see if that helps.

Repair did not work.

Also, it is not just dialogue I am not hearing but also no cockpit sounds like test alarms, switch clicks, etc.

I am hearing engine sounds.

It's probably in your settings in Saved Games, and repair does not touch those. Check your audio settings in DCS. If that doesn't work. Close DCS. Rename your DCS folder in Saved Games to DCS_old or something, start DCS and see if that fixed it. 🤞🏻

DCS tech help suggested a similar approach and I renamed it to Backup, but now I am back to the very start of things as I have no saved missions, campaigns, aircrafts, maps, etc.

With some additional guidance I've got it fixed. DCS had me rename just the "Config" folder. I also copied my "Input" folder with my AC cockpit control layouts/key bindings from the old "Config" folder and put it into the new "Config" folder once DSC had created it. A little bit of going in and out of DCS to check things... some game settings (display, gameplay, etc) got reset too.

Rather strange this all happened, but glad for the help here and DCS tech getting it fixed.

If you had pinged me with @username

I could have answered you more efficiently, and given you the answers of how to copy things back. No matter. Happy skies! Glad you got it solved. 🥂
