Hi All,

I couldn't find (m)any 3090 and Pimax Crystal Light setup guides online so I've been spending quite a bit of time tweaking my DCS, PimaxXR and QuadViews settings since getting a PCL. Today found something that gives me decent performance (50FPS) and quality on a 3090 RTX 24GB. First off, I no longer use PimaxXR or the QuadViews Companion, with a QuadViews toggle now available in the DCS Core Settings.

EDIT1: These settings relate to the pre 1.33.01 release of PimaxPlay and still require https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated. Thanks@sleighzy. I'll report back with an update once I have tested with the latest version.

EDIT2: You can achieve 60FPS by setting the Render Quality 0.85 in PimaxPlay with very little difference in image quality (IMHO). Thanks @Calvin.Pimax

I'm just posting my settings for anyone else who might find it useful. Some may get more mileage out of it than others. Some may be able to (please) share tips on how to increase quality or FPS without trading off against the other factor too much.

Are you still using the Quad-Views-Foveated API layer, or are now using the new Quad Views support in PimaxPlay?

I don't use the QuadViews Companion (although I guess my previous use of it could still influence my settings without it still running?). I don't have the beta of Pimax Play so I don't have the QuadViews Support within it yet, but I have I activated the QuadViews setting in DCS itself.

Ahhh, in that case you’re not actually using Quad Views. Ticking the box in DCS just enables DCS to send 4 views, but you still need to install Quad-Views-Foveated or use the new Pimax software (which may actually be out of beta now). The QuadViews Companion app never gave you quad views, it is just a config app for Quad-Views-Foveated. If you go into DCS into the actual in game settings and not the launcher do you have the ability to tick and untick that box?

Do you already have this installed? https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated

You're right. I have Quad-Views-Foveated installed and can tick and untick the box. I don't use QuadViews Companion though and OpenXR is disabled, so I'm running with just DCS, Pimax play Quad-Views-Foveated.

I have clarified in the above post.

Great one!

How about the Pimax Play render quality - have you tried configure it to 0.85?

I had it set to 1.0, but 0.85 gave me an additional 5-10 frames with very little impact on quality. Thanks 😃

until the PimaxPlay beta goes to full release

This is out of beta and is available in the current v1.33 release.

Roger that. My Check for Updates wasn't finding any update. Sorted now.

Great to hear that! You could play around with that setting, and of course in-game pixel density and others such as shadow, grass, cloud and etc.

Thanks for this thread HalfCard.  I also have a3090 with AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - 12-Core 3.70GHz, 4.8GHz Turbo - 64MB L3 Cache Processor, Pro OC Compatible (No On-board Graphics)....whatever that all means 🤣🤣 got 64gb of RAM

When I punched in your settings I got 90fps in an F18 free flight over Caucuses when at or above cloud level, when I dropped to the deck I was still getting mid to high 70's.  i know this isnt an MP server but in all my messing about over past few days since getting the headset its the best I've had.

I'm running FFR in Openxr Quad views, 90Hz upscaled, render is at Medium, grade is Balanced.  When I ran this first the shimmy on the edge of the FFR zone was noticeable and distracting.  I put Anti Aliasing back on DLAA and that seems to have tidied that up.

I am struggling with the image sharpness, contrast and brightness, the Crystal light seems wishy washy when compared to the same flight in the G2

Great base line to start from though so thanks for the post
