JG14_Smil Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hello to all, I have taken part in MP simming 'since 1995, been in the same squadron for ten years and flown with many fine sim pilots, making great friends along the way. My favorite thing in simming is flying as a wingman. Some of you may notice me tagging along in BS MP missions. While there are tactics that work very well when flying as a pair in BS, nothing can work if a flight leader does not follow one very simple basic rule; fly at a reduced speed so your wingman can catch up. Flying at full speed means they can only fall behind. Even in times when that full speed is needed, short modulations of the throttle (collective in BS) can allow the wingman to maintain position. Even with no TS or voice program running and minimal text messaging, this one thing can make flying together as a pair doable. I've seen it work in BS and those are the best times I have had in the sim. so, if you like racing around, shooting fish in a barrel and would love to have 24 viks loaded on your gaming machine, more power to you. To me, MP means teamwork and it is a joy to find others that think alike. thanks! smil
Panzertard Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) I just realized that we threw that book out of the window the other night with the attack on the carrier :D ... oops, did I just speak that out loudly? Sorry, I'll be nice :) Yes, it's a bit easier to maintain control and S/A if you're cruising at 200-220 compared to burning along in 280 kph. JG14_Smil Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 full power is doable once WM is regrouped, just allow short reductions to allow WM to close in. that was a very fun hop (none of our Karens made it to the target though).
