Dreher875 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Hey guys. I just purchased a 7900 xtx. I'm running it with a 7800x3d cpu. I play in vr with a quest 3. Was wondering if anyone would be willing to post their oculus settings along with their dcs settings just to see where I'm at. I previously had a 4070. The 7900 xtx blows the 4070 away at the settings I was using previously. So I don't need any 7900 xtx hate. Amd has released drivers that make it enjoyable to play. Thank yall.
capitow Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 (edited) Hello, I have almost everything maxed out. Except water and clouds that consume too much resources. (also Visibility set to High) The way I´ve found to obtain the best results with Quest3 7900xtx, 64gb ram 7950X cpu. Is disabling MSAA, use TAA and FSR 0.9. In the quest app I have 120hz and x1.7. DONT use DCS pixel density (huge fps drop), if you want more resolution Override resolution with OpenXR till you feel confortable. The only problem with TAA sampling is the texture ghosting. But I think they will fix this in the future. This config give me 50-60 multiplayer in dynamic campaing. Edited October 26, 2024 by capitow
pognhek Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 (edited) hi, I have the exact same configuration as yours. I've left the Quest 3 on the default settings. In DCS, everything is maxed out (including clouds and water). I've only turned off shadows and set terrain shadows to flat. I've also enabled MSAA x2 and set the Pixel Density to 1. I've installed Quad Foveated Rendering, and now I'm getting a constant 72 FPS (occasionally dropping to 36, but not frequently). The only issue I've noticed is some occasional aliasing on certain objects like decks, airport wire fences, etc. I've gotten used to it. With such powerful hardware, you shouldn't need any additional processing." BR, Edited November 10, 2024 by pognhek

Aliasing is better with DLAA or DLSS but you have to accept the (variable) ghosting. Bringing this back from the dead... did you ever find any settings that worked for you? I have this same card and am struggling to get more than 45fps in the Apache sitting on the runway. I'm getting very frustrated with the whole thing.
TED Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I have 7900xtx and 9800x3d with quest pro. Dcs maxed out except shadoes. No msaa or taa or any upscaling, although it works well with fsr in dcs. Use quadviews, in vd both h264+ and hvec work well. I had sharpening in vd, although cas inndcs settings is also quite good. Use virtual desktop. I find all meta software substandard and a mess compared to vd. I manage between 70-80fps low and on the ground, maybe drops to 60 fast and low over cities.

Everybody's systems are different (and DCS has changed a lot in a year since the last update on this post) and the graphics card may not be entirely relevant. Attach your DCS log file for review along with a screenshot of your graphics settings, if you are not using a value of 1.0 for the Pixel Density, and if you are increasing the resolution in any other software.
