mouse for external views

Getting back into flying after a year or so and have to reprogram my stick. What I would love to do is have my mouse control TDC function while in the cockpit and the viewpoint in external view. not sure how to go about this. I know you can program for individual modes, ie A-G, Nav, etc, but I would like to be able to go to external and watch my handywork dropping iron without switching back to nav if possible.

 

I don't think it is possible, but I wonder if some of the big brains that have been flying have found a workaround.
