Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Not sure how the reputation is supposed to work. In the list on my persona I have 10 items, 6 are grey and 4 is green. Above the list - in the header, to the right it says "41 points". In my posts it shows 1 point. I'm not able to relate any of the numbers to eachother - 1 on me, vs 10 in the list (or 4 greens only) - and 41 in total. Could someone explain please? Pretty please ... with cherry on top? 1 The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Boberro Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) Grey items mean someone agreed with your post but he doesn't have any points which would share them with you. Green means someone had at least 1 point of reputation (this under avatar) and gave you his own 1 point (shared with you). Red means someone didn't agree with your post but when u don't agree with someone's post you can give only half of reputation as bad rep. Points under avatar means overall reputation in points - but here is system like this: Each 100 points received mean 1 point under avatar. After 100 and 1000 posts you receive 1 point gratis. I have 67 points so it means I give you my 67 points to your reputation sum, and when u get 100, your points under avatar will grow +1. Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) Ah - thats a simple explanation to a complicated system :D Thank you very much - and I have only 1 point to send your way, but still. Thanks :) EDIT: Oh, indeed - I have 2 reps and 108 total now - thank you *very* much :) Edited June 3, 2009 by Panzertard 1 The mind is like a parachute. EtherealN Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 On the 100 and 1000 posts increase that is when you move from "Junior Member" to "Member" and then from "Member" to "Senior Member". I think there's further time-related uppings, like when you've been around the forum for X amount of months or years. I am unsure of that though. Also, I think negative rep from people without rep power will also show grey. Eer maybe after 2 years dunno :P About colors, Negative rep is red, grey is neutral (due of no points to share). Glad it helped. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Trying to avoid those situations with negative reps. One shouldnt be at a keyboard if you're able to write such posts ... it's better to go elsewhere. Forums shouldnt get people worked up ;) Junior->Member->Senior seems quite straighforward tough. :) EDIT: Just noticed gigz reply - hehe, red. Bad .. badder than M. Jackson? :) The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
EtherealN Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Ah, yeah, that is the proper way to express it Boberro, cheers. Someone that has no rep power cannot give rep, so whichever "positive" or "negative" option they select it will get logged as neutral. I think. It did confuse the hell out of me for quite a while, that system, until the first time I was given rep by someone with massive rep power and it bumped me over one of the 100x multipliers on total rep received and I practically saw the change in rep power happen between a refresh. Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Related to this - you guys seem to have a "powerbar" of apples there. Bright green. What does that indicate? The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
gigz-on Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 It means that this member is really cool!;) 1 My YouTube Channel:
EtherealN Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) I believe they basically count a higher multiple. Somethinh like the dark green being which hundred points you're on: so you had one when you were between 0 and 99, got your second when you raised above 100. I need to check how many points I have to verify that theory though, and the interfact is being troublesome at this time. >.< EDIT: Yeah, up until I got my first bright yellow it did seem that the greens followed 100x multiples, so when I was at something like 450 points I had 5 dark green dots (if memory serves). Once you get above 500ish it starts to do something different but I am not sure what it is exactly - I can't get it to fit as "simply" a new multiple together with my points. I bet Boberro has been typing an explanation while I was editing this, though... :P EDIT2: No he didn't... O.o It means that this member is really cool!;) Not in my case. I'm not cool, I'm hot. ;) Edited June 3, 2009 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 gigz & Etheral lol .. thank you again .. keep the humor coming :D The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Boberro Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 EDIT2: No he didn't... O.o He went to kitchen :P I don't know about these bright green boxes, I have them from about 4 or 5 rep points IIRC. Then they grew to few boxes and I think I won't get any new green boxes, look at Laivynias, he has about 110 rep and have same amount of boxes like people with 10-15 rep. I never understood this tricky system in vBulletin :D Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Okai - here's an unrelated one for you - since you've dug up all the answers for everything else (must keep you busy): At the main forumpage - showing both russian, german, english forums etc - in the online-userlist at the bottom - there are some users with a red "+" signs after their nicks. Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) About colors, Negative rep is red, grey is neutral (due of no points to share). Glad it helped. Another thought occured for me. :detective: The consequence of being "bad" against a new member is insignificant - helping them too. But being nice to a senior member have a great impact. Well, in a true sense others will notice if you behave poorly of course, and act on it. ;) Note to self: Stop thinking ... go flying.
