How can a dog fight or fox 1 in such visual conditions?

Use your TGP. As far as I know, even RLP use it to identify aircraft visually.

At that distance, TGP. Tomcat and later Phantom versions had a TV camera for this exact purpose, and on the Viper, TGP does that. VID is much easier if you can zoom in on your target.

I said fox1&dogfight，in that situation.

I think no body will use TGP in that situation to track your target

and so many immersive servers like 80s，they do not have F2  F10

I had a quick test with the new spotting dots and found them to be more realistic in that they’re not huge blobs anymore. I was still just about to make out the “dot” even without a TD box around it.

I use Quest 3 , openXR mode , use VD Link

Quest Pro, VD. Godlike. PD might be 1.1 - I’d have to check.

yes，PD  1.1   is good for picture，but no way to enhance vision of aerial targets.  So sad

This means that VR players will not be able to engage in aerial combat.

You could also reduce refresh rate to 72 Hz that would then allow you to increase the supersampling to 1.3 or higher. Then see how distant objects look. What AA are you using?

Try pushing SS higher. Turn off any antialiasing. Are you using any sharpening?

140% render resolution with Godlike is too high to maintain 72fps even with a high-spec machine. You're not achieving it over the sea. So unless you are happy with the stuttering caused by not achieving the frame rate of your headset, I would dial down the PD. It's a compromise of framerate vs visual clarity.

I run a PD of 1.1 with Godlike ona 4090 and i13900k @ 5.5GHz. I have ASW/Spacewarp set to auto, which activates only when my system cannot maintain 72fps.

What do you have the "improved spotting dots" set to in settings > gameplay? Have you tried both settings?

The aim of these changes is first to see the best clarity of objects (as per op question), then to optimize for performance. DLSS is not a good option for clarity of objects. You need to find the right balance of SS, AA, refresh rate and game settings that works for you.
