eifionglyn Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 (edited) As the title really? What does it do? What is it meant to do? Far as I can tell, it doesn't really do anything for me. I see some of the youtubers say hold it as you pull collective for takeoff, but I really can't discern any effect if it's pressed or not. I read CDR stands for 'cantering device release' so I'm guessing in the real Chinook it temporarily turns off the mechanism providing stick forces on the cyclic, but does it have any relevance in the sim with a spring-cantered non-FFB joystick? Edited November 5, 2024 by eifionglyn corrected collective to cyclic
tribundf Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 CDR button is used to temporarily disable the centering force (trim) so you can move the stick to a new “center”. Generally what most helicopter with modern AFCS use, so you can essentially momentarily “interrupt” the flight control system tho reorient the aircraft. It is however currently not modeled, but you do have a trim release button right now, which essentially is the same thing, just a very rudimentary solution, until the afcs is fully modeled. 1
