nullTwo questions:

  1. What is the recommended value for Encode Resolution for my 4070 Ti Super OC (16GB Vram) and Q3 running at 72Hz?
  2. My ASW is set to off for DCS profile, but for some reason during gameplay, the FPS will cut in half to 36fps and won't go back to 72fps. Why is that and how can I force the game to go back up to 72fps without quitting to desktop?

Use the Tray Tool keybinds to set the various ASW toggles. That way you can change on the fly. I have mine mapped to my HOTAS via JoytoKey. I switch between on (auto), off and forced in.

9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). Afghanistan – Channel – Cold War Germany - Kola - Normandy 2 – Persian Gulf - Sinai - Syria - South Atlantic. BF-109 - FW-190 A8 - F4 - F5 - F14 - F16 - F86 - I16 - Mig 15 - Mig 21 - Mosquito - P47 - P51 - Spitfire.

Thanks. But does it change back to 72fps if you have a drop? My default settings are off for ASW.

And what is your Encode Resolution?

If ASW is disabled you should just see the actual FPS. It will only toggle between 72 and 36 if ASW is auto. I usually leave this to auto but there are some situations where I want it off or forced on.

My Encode Resolution is the same as yours but I run the Bitrate at 960. Just to clarify I am using a Quest Pro.

It often does that. If you set it to off in oculus debug tool it keeps shifting on again. That's why I use the keybinds with OTT. Once set it stays set until you restart DCS.

So you mean to say that if OTT activates ASW and my fps drops to 36, using the keybinds I can set it to OFF again and my fps will get back to 72?

Meta link software automatically defaults to ASW auto. OTT let's you switch it off and on (and other options).

In my experience, changing those values was always for the worse.

Leave those settings as default. Meta software does a good enough job adjusting the numbers on its own.

What is the default value? I believe that the default value contributes to blurry text and dials in the cockpit.

Default settings for Bitrate etc. However you will need to add some supersampling somewhere. If the resolution slider is set to x1 in the meta link app then set the ss value to between 1.5 and 1.7 and set sharpening to normal. See if that looks any better.

Resolution in meta quest is set to x1.2

But I referred to default value of the Encode Resolution. I have mine set to 3648, but I'm not sure if this is the optimal value.

That encode resolution is fine. However it is not the same as the output resolution. With the slider set to 1.2 your resolution is 2570x2752 per eye. You need to aim for about 3000x3300 for the best resolution. Leave the meta resolution slider at x1.0 and set the OTT supersampling at 1.5 to 1.7.

Before I saw your reply, I tried this: Steam Community :: Guide :: VR quality guide (+ Quest 2 & 3 in depth settings)

Seems nice and working well. Combined with your tip about OTT keybind to turn off ASW, I like it.

Currently the meta quest slider is set to the max.
