Demon731 Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 So, it might be a gimmick and completely pointless, but how are you supposed to set up the shaker aspect within the SimPro app? I have the kit installed and when I open the app, can set the key binds and the User vibration levels - I have even downloaded and “RUN” the shaker profile - but it never seems to take to the game. Of note, when I set the User vibration levels for the stick and throttle - they rumble to show how much you have set, but when I click out of the calibration window, the stick stops but the throttle continues - the throttle only stops when I go back in and reset it to zero, which seem weird. Do I do need to activate something in DCS too? 1
Joch1955 Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 I had the same issue, you have to keep the Sim app running in the background for the vibration to work. I also enabled ‘force feedback’ in game, although I have not checked if it is actually needed.

Despayre Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 For me, I also found that I had to move the Winwing lines in the LUA file to the end, otherwise, no linked lighting, and no shaker effects. Also, not clear what you mean about the Throttle. I have the Orion2, my throttle does not have any force feedback effects that I'm aware of, only the joystick does. Is there an Orion2 Throttle with FFB? I'm not updating this anymore. It's safe to assume I have all the stuff, and the stuff for the stuff too.
Joch1955 Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Yes, the strike ace throttle grip also has a motor. The F/A-18 style throttle grip which I have does not. 1
BuzzU Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Yup! I have the F-15E to use in the A-10C and the shaker works Buzz
Demon731 Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 Sorry, I should have made it clear regarding my throttle set up - I do indeed have the Strike Ace grip which does posses a shaker kit inside of it too. Thanks for the inputs and will give this all a try - I was not running the SimApp Pro during the game as I thought it had ‘programmed’ the system without the need for running it in the background.
Demon731 Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 Ok, I tried the set up and keeping the SimApp Pro running in the background but got nothing from it. Weirdly, the throttle remains live throughout and vibrating no matter what I do, the stick responds in the app but in game has zero reaction. May have to try again tomorrow with some more tweaking….. I have used the WinWing applied standard profiles for the shaker kit but also noted there are user provided ones. Does anyone know where these User profiles are saved on my hard drive?
Despayre Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 I've found that unless I move the Winwing lines in the export.lua file to the end, Simapp doesn't seem to be able to talk to DCS, regardless of the Simapp setting to do so (I'm assuming you've already told it to sync with DCS via that Simapp setting). Once I did that, I was able to sync my throttle lighting to in-game, and the downloaded profiles for the shaker started working for me. (there's also an option in SimApp to turn off the editing of the LUA file, which you should do once it's working, otherwise, every time you start up SimApp, it puts the Winwing lines at the top again, and then it doesn't work again.) I'm not updating this anymore. It's safe to assume I have all the stuff, and the stuff for the stuff too.

Can you please point me to the export.lua file and tell me how I would recognise the WinWing lines? Of course, it had to be difficult and not easy!

On my system, the export.lua path is c:\users\[username_here]\Saved Games\ DCS.openbeta\Scripts\export.lua So, inside the tree of your saved games folder And the 2 lines you're looking to move to the end are: local wwtlfs=require('lfs') dofile(wwtlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/wwt/wwtExport.lua') *Always make a backup before following instructions from some internet rando! Demon731 Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 Sorry but to be clear - is that just the file named “Export.lua” or do I need to edit the .LUA file assigned for my module, ie F18?

Demon731 Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 Thank you @Despayre - That worked a treat. The only issue is that I need to create a profile now which I like, the one I had and was commonly used appeared to be vibrating when sat on the carrier deck, which was annoying. Now for the tweaks to commence. 1
Muas Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Speaking of SimApp vibration effect... anyone knows how to get rid of the unused profile files that keep adding up in the list?
