Dysko Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I haven't used DCS for several month due to having prioritized my airshow photography hobby during the summer. Finally few days ago I got back to it. I updated it with the usual procedure (update --> remove fxo and metashaders --> cleanup --> "fast" repair), and now it almost always crashes while loading a mission. I tried everything: "slow" repair, disabling all mods (I only have SRS and TacView anyway), renaming the Saved Games folder to force it to create a fresh one. Nothing worked. Some modules cause it to crash (e.g. F-4), while others do not (e.g. F-18). Strangely, modules that cause crashes do so even if used as AI only: I created a mission with the editor with me flying an F-18 and inserting an AI-only F-4, and the mission crashed. I tried using the Discord log analyzer, and it says I ran out of RAM and VRAM... which is really strange, since few months ago I did not have any problem at all on the very same PC. I don't know what else to do. I'm attaching the latest log files. Thank you very much! dcs.log dcs.20241113-154959.crash My aircraft spotting website: GolfVictorSpotting.it

But if it crashes because you run out VRAM and RAM, i would try setting all graphics down to the lowest just for testing and see if it still crashes. Would also check if any files have been quarantined by your antivirus. I personally exclude Windows defender from the main DCS folder and the dcs saved games folder. Solution sleighzy Posted November 13, 2024 Solution Posted November 13, 2024 There are a lot of memory allocation errors in that log with it attempting to decompress texture files. I see your preload radius is set to 150,000 which is far too big for your processor, RAM, and card. The DCS log analyser recommends dropping that to 30,000. It also states the following: Set Water to Low. Enable Full Screen mode. Set Preload Radius to max. 30000. Turn down Anisotropic Filtering. Can you also run the Windows dxdiag tool and save the report it generates and attach it here as well. AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
Dysko Posted November 13, 2024 Author Posted November 13, 2024 I tried both adding the DCS folders to the antivirus exceptions and turning down graphic settings to the minimum (the 150'000 preload radius was created automatically after I deleted the old saved games folder), and now everything works perfectly! Thank you very much! I have a question now: were graphic settings reset with the new launcher? Last time I used DCS the new launcher had not been released yet, and everything worked perfectly. I wonder if the new launcher did not read the previous graphic settings. My aircraft spotting website: GolfVictorSpotting.it

There were a bunch of people that started running into issues after an update and the common denominator in a lot of cases was only 16 GB (and mostly a small pagefile).
