SgtPappy Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 I set up a mission facing a MiG-21 with no gun ammo and just 2 missiles and ordered it to fire at will, fire a missile at my aircraft at min range and to not react to an attack or use any countermeasures. The MiG spawns in when I enter a zone. However, it does exactly the opposite of all these things. Please see the attached track and video. I am currently unable to launch DCS today so I couldn't make a track but as soon as I can, I will attach one. 1
JohnRedcorn Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 When you add any aircraft on the map in mission editor, the aircraft have a role (CAS, SEAD, e.t.c.). You can see the role on the top part of the right properties-menu when you click on the aircraft. On the bottom of the right proprties-menu, you can see a long button. The button is clicked by default and it shows the additional menu which can be used to add some speciffic tasks and behaviours for the aircraft. When you choose an aircraft role, you can see that the aircraft role sets some global tasks which have a "-" sign in this additional menu on the bottom. These tasks are spreaded through all aircraft's waypoints. The tasks are actually sets a global behaviour of the aircraft (set it's AI). If you want the aircraft to perform an exact tasks, you should delete all the global tasks and then set your tasks. Just remember that some aircraft roles may not allow you to set some tasks for it. So you should change the role for a speciffic tasks that you want. Just remember to delete the global tasks when you change the role. Otherwise aircraft will behave by it's role and perform some operations that you don't want it to do at all. And it can really drive you crazy, because you won't be able to achieve what you want in your mission.

No matter what, the bandit defends, always with flares, always without firing, and always to the left. Track attached. bandits always defend no matter how they are programmed.trknullnull Edited November 27, 2024 by SgtPappy
prccowboy Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) just my 2 cents, but your track appears to show a head on merge with an opponent only equipped with rear aspect Magic-1 missiles with no guns. the defensive break followed by an attempt to maneuver to your rear aspect appears to be correct behavior to me (he needs to be behind you to shoot that missile. try swapping his load out to an all-aspect missile to see if his behavior changes) Edited November 27, 2024 by prccowboy

Furthermore, I tell the AI to not react of use any countermeasures and it does both anyway. Regardless of its loadout, it should not be doing anything to defend. Another track attached in a brand new mission, in case the old one was corrupt. Exactly the same issue. bandits always defend no matter how they are programmed pt3 - fresh mission.trk
