DD_Friar Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Salute, More than willing to accept its my flying, but has anyone else experienced the Ch-47 dropping to the ground very quickly at the moment with no response from collective input. I am finding this especially when trying to manoeuvrer slowly trying to sling load. 1 Visit the Dangerdogz at www.dangerdogz.com. dahui Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 You probably get into a Vortex Ring State This happens with low airspeed, high rate of descent and high power setting. Try to do a less steep approach greetings 1
DD_Friar Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 @dahui I am aware of this state, it just seems different lately, seems to want to do it more easily than before. 1 Visit the Dangerdogz at www.dangerdogz.com. dahui Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 The devs changed a lot at the last update. so it might be, altough i never had issues with it on the Chinook 1
Stu6711 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 (edited) This is definitely an issue, that’s not VRS related. I’ve tested this repeatedly, when coming down to land (landing from a higher altitude, and slowly hovering to the floor) the power will fluctuate erratically. As an example, I’ll be at roughly zero airspeed, approximately 400ft or so in the air, then I’ll slowly begin reducing power, keeping a keen eye on the VSI, then boom, she’ll drop like a rock! If you’re successful in saving her from smashing into the ground, she’ll literally shoot into the air like a rocket. I can easily perform the above manoeuvre in the Huey, Hip and Hind etc. but the Chinook makes it ‘extremely’ difficult. Edited November 27, 2024 by Stu6711 2 1
