Jyge Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 I just chatted with a friend of mine and somehow we came to controllers. I then had a look at Virpil and WinWing for rudder pedals and I noticed that they have both Black Friday sales. Now I myself got an itch and I need to scratch. I am currently using self made pedals with a HAL and brakes using a weight sensor. The rudder axis is good, brakes suck. But what I have learnt, is that since I fly heli quite some bit I remove my centering mechanism and quite like it that way. I do not like too clunky centering anyway (I used to have Simped pedals that were really high-tech at the time, but they had way too aggressive centering without compromises). So I would like to hear about pros and cons if somebody had a chance to test both and why one should prefer one or another. Another detail would be the software. I would not mind if the software would actually allow adjusting the "virtual" center of the rudder axis. If there is a spring, it would not be too bad to use software to take the load off by having a "virtual" rudder trim...If this is then doable with shortcut keys I would be happy.
Panzerlang Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) I can offer input only on what I own (a buttload of Virpil stuff) and what I've heard about WinWing (atrocious customer support). Virpil kit is stellar, both the hardware and the software. I guess it costs more because it's made in Europe, not china, but you get what you pay for. Oh, nearly forgot to mention a comment I read under a YT video a few hours ago, some guy had a board blow, well out of warranty; Virpil sent him a new board, free of charge. THAT's customer service.
