Why is there a "Supports the new Pimax Prime program." in my new firmware?
What does it do for me as a Pimax Crystal Light owner??

@Calvin.Pimax can you please give some more information?

1..

Quote

This release is currently available exclusively for public beta users.

Why this remark if the version is available to all users?

2. Does the Crystal also benefit from this update as it seems that there are no more updates for the Crystal?

3. There is still this bug where "Activate Chaperone" must be activated for the volume percentage to be shown in the headset when you change the volume with the knob on the headset.

4. To activate this setting the "Video Pass Through" must be activated first. And deactivated again when the Chaperone is activated. Why?

5. How come Pimax Play immediately showed the update message after start although I had Pimax Play set to 'offline'.

6. Why do we not get to see what version of Pimax Play is installed if we select to go 'offline'? All settings are unavailable. Why?

This version was initially intended as a beta release. However, after thorough testing and finding no major bugs, we have decided to make it a public release. It is no longer limited to beta users.

We have resolved the issue with the foveated rendering status display, which now applies to the Crystal headset as well.

If you have not paired a controller and are using the volume button as a clicker to configure the room settings, it may conflict with the volume display. The development team is currently reworking the logic to address this issue.

Setting Pimax Play to "offline"? Currently, unless your system lacks an internet connection, it is not possible to set Pimax Play to "offline." However, this request has been forwarded to the development team, and they are working on a solution.

Could you please elaborate more on #4 question?

Thanks for the reply.

For question #4, see picture. You cannot change the settings 'Passthrough' and/or 'Activate Chaperone' unless you first set 'Video Pass Through'.

nullAs for question #3, I never use the controllers. The volume button is only used for what is says, control the volume of the sound. Nothing else.

Maybe I do not understand your answer to question # 5. If you look at the picture you'll see that there is a message that 'some of the features' are still available. But nothing about what these are or what you're missing. And as I said, Pimax play still goes onto the internet despite that message.

The "Video Passthrough (Lab Mode)" must be activated before enabling either Passthrough or Active Chaperone. If it is not enabled, the room setup will revert to an earlier version, requiring you to calibrate the center, enter the room height, and so on. Once enabled, you can configure the room settings directly within the headset. Think of this option as a switch that enables these two features.

In offline mode, you can still access device settings, pair controllers, and perform similar tasks. However, purchasing games from the store will require an internet connection or activating the headset. Most features remain accessible while offline.

Thank you again for the reply.

When you activate both "Video Passthrough (Lab Mode)" and "Passthrough" the room setup works only with controllers. Not with keyboard and/or mouse. So, for those who do not use controllers it does not add anything. The "old" way for room setup works at least as easy. Besides that, the video passthrough is still so bad that I cannot read the menu in the headset or read the keys on my keyboard. I can see the keys but that's it.

For me, there still is that software bug that the "Active Chaperone" is required to see the volume indication in the headset.

About the on- offline mode, what do the settings Language Preference, Automatic Start, Minimized Start, Hide to taskbar and Download Location all have to do with going offline? These are local settings applying to the local system where Pimax Play is installed.

And I still do not have an answer how Pimax Play can see that there is an update available when I start the program in offline mode.

pi_server.exe is a busy bee.

It consumes up to 7,5% CPU when not even playing. -Just surfing DCS forum..
Can I kill it and still play DCS? I suspect it can be the cause of stutter, because I have tried absolutely every tweak there is. Xcept killing pi_server.
It is the most busy process right now.

Edit: There is a whole sh*tload of Pimax related exe files active/tickling.
Do I need all of those?

Are you closing down Pimax in the taskbar's "Show Hidden Icons" window? I just checked Task Manager and I have no Pimax stuff running.

works only with controllers

For roomsetup, you can also use head tracking combined with the volume (+) button as a clicker.

The passthrough feature uses the tracking camera. If you're looking for high-resolution and color passthrough, you'll need to wait for the MR faceplate to become available

No. Should I?

Well, I never use the headset's own power button, that thing is totally FUBAR.
If I don't properly close Pimax Play the headset stays powered on (not good), shown by it's tiny green light being on. So it's drawing power from the hub and running hot. Turn off Pimax Play and the tiny blue light comes on, which means all the headset is doing is having its battery re-charged.

These settings are local and have no relation to offline mode.
Offline mode will only affect the Store (where you purchase games).
Is this a client-side update? If so, I have submitted this bug to the development team, and they are currently investigating the root cause.

If your first two lines are about the local settings, then this should also be forwarded to the development team because these settings are clearly not available anymore when in offline mode.

If your third line is about the update message, yes it is shown as a client-side update even when in offline mode.

Can you please ask the development team also to look in the General tab. As you can see in the attached video Pimax Play checks for updates despite being in offline mode (no green dot).

I believe the offline mode not working as offline mode is a known issue that Pimax are currently working on. You can find the bug report here:

Please be assured that our development team is currently working on a patch to enable offline mode. This will allow users to log into Pimax Play and access Device Settings without an internet connection. We will provide detailed patch notes and instructions once the patch is released.
