ex81 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 I bought the stick and had high expectations of it. Calibration was still easy, but integrating it into DCS pushed me to my limits. The allocation of buttons (Fire etc.) also works. But the axles simply don't do what they should. E.g. the twist axis: NWS is engaged, but when I steer to the left the nose wheel rotates, but immediately jumps back. I.e. controlling is simply not possible. The so-called BrakeLever (Slider 2, used as a wheel brake) shows full deflection in DCS, but no reaction in the game, i.e. no delay. Landing ends on the meadow. And so one problem leads to another. This is extremely frustrating. Why am I writing this here? If there is someone who brought in the Gunfighter in DCS, I ask them to help me out of my hole. Via message or whatever. Still hoping for a good ending. ex81 What goes up, must come down ! The NWS on some planes requires the button to be held down while turning the twist, then released to continue straight, and then held & twisted again for a new heading. Perhaps this is the case with the aircraft that you are using?
ex81 Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 @Porkbrain Thank you for the reply. Every answer is helpful. for the wheel brake lever I set it to Slider Invert and it works fine and is listed as Slider2. Did you do this in DCS or in a VKB software ? If you have any more advice. The NWS on some planes requires the button to be held down while turning the twist Please, which button do you mean? What goes up, must come down ! Hi, I haven't changed any settings in the VKB software, only in the DCS menus. For the F-5E in Settings-Controls-Axis Commands-Wheel Brake item under the VKB Gunfighter column I've set Add Combo by pressing the joystick's wheel brake lever, then selected Tune combo axis for that item and ticked the Slider and Invert boxes. For the NWS in the Controls-All but Axis Commands-Stick-Nosewheel Steering Button item under the VKB Gunfighter column I set Add Combo by pressing button 10 on the joystick which is easy to press and hold whilst twisting the joystick. So when taxiing, to turn left or right - press and hold the button that you've set on the joystick, twist the stick and then release that button when you have turned to the direction that you wanted. After you have released the button then twisting the stick won't change direction unless you are going so fast that the rudder has some effect. 1
ex81 Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 @Porkbrain Thank you very much for more details. I`ll try it out tonight. What goes up, must come down ! ex81 Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 @Porkbrain Here I am again just to let you know, that your decribtion of setting up the brake lever as a working wheel brake solved my problem. For a while I really got mad cause I coud not manage it. Thank you very much. You made my day, Fun is back. The NWS also was my fault, cause I did not disconnect the second (old) stick. Which ocupied the same axcis as the gunfighter. 1 What goes up, must come down !
