These controls are for mimicing the WSO as pilot. If you want to use the Mavericks from the front seat, you have to use the Weapon mini-stick (next to the throttle) in the front pit instead :)

The controls for the Mavs are locked to the pit that activates them (also IRL), which is either the Pilot or WSO.
