oz_codii Posted January 7 Posted January 7 (edited) Hello, I've been enjoying the map but was surprised, after checking the FAQ, to see that two significant IQAF bases are not mentioned—H1 and Al Fathah. H1 Air Base, which can clearly be seen in-game right now in its rightful place (33°48′51″N 41°26′07″E), played a significant role in Desert Storm and the 2003 invasion. During Desert Storm, H1 was one of the hubs for Iraqi SCUDs, and during the 2003 invasion, it was captured by the Coalition within the first 8 days of the war and used as a forward operations base. It was subsequently abandoned but remained in a usable state until it was bombed and its runways destroyed during Operation Inherent Resolve. Al Fathah Air Base in Kirkuk Governorate (also visible on the map, 35°08′02″N 043°43′22″E) was one of the main Iraqi Air Force bases, a so-called "super base" that included underground facilities. I am unsure about its involvement in the Iran-Iraq War and Desert Storm, but it was heavily targeted during the 2003 invasion and turned out to be the site of the largest weapons and ammunition cache found during the war. It was demolished sometime afterward. Given that both bases lost their relevance after 2003, there may be an opportunity to add them in their "pristine" 1980s condition (at least the H1), providing some authentic airbases for fans of the Iran-Iraq War and Desert Storm.
