Hey All,

I currently have a Reverb G2 and its struggles using it with my MSI 4070Ti. Now I was wondering will the CL have issues with the 4070Ti too?

Like Currently I can run at 80% of Full Rez @60Hz. now I noticed the CL seemed to have only 72hz as it's lowest, I had issues with the Quest3 I tried out last month but I chalked it up to the USB Link Cable..

So does anyone here have a 12th series or newer CPU with a 4070Ti, what kind of FrameTimes do you get in DCS @ 72Hz or do you have to also lower the Rez down a bit?

I am kinda on the fence with a CL. I am continuing to monitor the CL any info would be valuable..

Can't help you on the intel front but with a 4080s I have to run the resolution down to .78 (just above the medium resolution setting) and lock my frames at 72fps and generally the FPS will stay at 70-72fps. There's an option in pimax play to run it at 120 and then lock it to half the frame rate to get you to 60hz/60fps.

Wow I am imagining I would need to set the rez down to like maybe 50-60%?? How does it look where you set it at? is that motion reprojection locking it like you said there?

You got me there on the reprojection. Not a clue on what that is lol. I’m using openxr tk CAS on with FFR I don’t see any motion reprojection anywhere in the settings here. It’s sharp and I’m happy with my visuals.

I followed the “Pimax best DCS vr settings and optimization” guide and then tinkered to around until I got what I wanted.

it is basically like you said you set it too 120hz and then lock it too half the refresh rate. I am sure Pimax calls it something else but that is what that feature is I think maybe someone else who has a Pimax can chime in..

I am guessing I can get it working if I lower the resolution some but I was wondering how it looks in the Pimax when you run a lower rez. I did it with the Reverb G2 and it was ok just curious how it looks in the CL.. thnx

No matter what you do, you won't be able to completely eradicate micro-stutter/jerking, no matter your graphics settings. Having said that, you can reduce them with settings and Windows and hardware tweaks.

Regarding resolution (OG Crystal here with 13900k and 4090), I run the headset at native resolution (1.0) and DCS Pixel Density at 1.0. I've had the headset at 0.75 and could barely tell any visual difference (image quality) but as it made no further improvement to the stutter I put it back to 1.0.

Why does 1.0 and 0.75 have so little difference on image quality? Somebody elsewhere pointed out what might be obvious to some (if correct) and that's that the game itself has a limit on how high the resolution of the objects (planes etc) can be. If the hardware is set beyond that limit, you won't see the 'expected' improvement.

So, 0.75 Headset and 1.0 DCS PD with my set up, with a 4070Ti YMMV.

what is your frametime in game? also what Hz rate do you run?

I've yet to find/use an OpenXR frametime app. 90hz.

I've tried all the frame-capping, lower Hz, re-projection, on their own and in combos, they all made the stutter worse.

well the thing with vr is you need to maintain a certain Frametime and under to get a smooth looking flight. in your case you need to maintain 11.1ms or under and the more under it will be smooth, if you go over 11.1ms you will perceive it as stutter.. I would say try running @72hz and see how it goes and yes definetely get Frametime app or simialr it is important..

If you tried a lower Hz and you still get Stutter maybe something else is wrong with the system like malware or a misconfiguration.?

I reckon the frame-capping etc uses CPU cycles and as DCS is already flogging one or two of my cores at 100% it just adds to the burden. Using the DCS FPS counter I see very low spikes, so I think Frame time is decent. My stutter is very minimal, I have to look for it to see it. 🙂
