Delayed disintegration. He looked ok -1 minute later - he fell apart!

Is it modelled that your gun can be taken out when you take a few bullets through the fuselage?

I overshoot the f22 after I spray him with a few bullets, and he ends up in the perfect firing position but doesn't fire. Moments later. He falls apart. 

 

It's pretty cool that this seems to be modelled. Anyone else experienced that?
