Elmouth Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Hi, has anyone tried this mission provided in instant action with Nevada scenario ? There is no way for me to hit first the F15 with R27 ET. I climb to about 11.000 m. In High freq mode. When the radar lock the target and I am launch authorized the F15s launch AIM-120. I cannot manoeuver because I must guide the R27 to the target (and at that altitude, havin loss speed, the airplane results not very maneouverable!). I get locked by AIM-120. I start chaffing but EVERY time the AIM-120 hits me first. I am wandering if any other has the same frustrating esxperience... My realism setting is full realism, of course. Thank you.
kotor633 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Hi, Why do you have to guide the R27 ET to the target? ET means infrared. It also has a slightly shorter range than the ER (radar controlled). ************************************** DCS World needs the Panavia Tornado! Really! **************************************
Elmouth Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 My mistake.... I meant R27 ER. The missiles are pre-assigned and not replaceble.
kotor633 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Hi, You have identified the problem. You have to maintain a constant radar lock for your missile. The AIM-120 uses its own radar to track the enemy aircraft - I don't know exactly after how many seconds. But you MUST outmaneuver the missile to avoid being shot down. You are CLEARLY at a disadvantage here with the Su-27. You should perhaps change your tactics. Use the terrain and 'sneak up' on the enemy. For example: Also: You are playing against a computer-generated opponent. Depending on how their skill is set, they behave too well. Please keep that in mind! And yet, when you start the mission, you can click the Mission Planner button. Then you select your aircraft and you can change the armament, or more: null And you might find that also helpfull: https://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Rus-BVR-AAM.html ************************************** DCS World needs the Panavia Tornado!
