i3lackAngel Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Hello all, When I try to set up my MFD frames through a USB Hub, only center one of them is being discovered by SimApp. If i plug them directly into the PC they are all visible. I thought if i unplug the center and try left or right it should get discovered it still doesn't. Tried swapping cables and USB slots in the hub. No luck. For some reason even if just left MFD frame is plugged in it just doesn't get detected, same goes for the right frame. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
MustangSally Posted April 18 Posted April 18 If you plug them directly into the PC and they are visible but not when you plug into the hub.....then your hub is the problem. Is the hub USB 3 and powered? Replace the hub! i3lackAngel Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 (edited) Hi @MustangSally, Thank you for your response. The hub is USB3 and powered. It is this hub: https://a.co/d/1m3Xhxi . What I am wondering is why my MFD-C is always connecting. I tried using the same USB slot for MFD-R and MFD-L and SimApp still doesn't find them even if their are the only device plugged in. @WINWING @WinwingTech is this something others have come across? MustangSally Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) But all three are detected when you plug them directly into your pc? i3lackAngel Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 If I plug MFD L & R into my PC directly, it seems to pick up the MFD. However, it still behaves a bit strange where in SimApp location of each MFD doesn't stay the same on the device screen. So I'm not even sure which one I'm going into. But it does show 3 of them.
i3lackAngel Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Also, another interesting thing, when all 3 are plugged into the hub and i turn off the computer MFD L & R stay lit as the rest of devices turn off.
MustangSally Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Might sound like a silly question but I noticed that your hub has individual power switches, are they on? Also make sure that each screen usb connection is plugged into your hub side by side. 6 hours ago, i3lackAngel said: Also, another interesting thing, when all 3 are plugged into the hub and i turn off the computer MFD L & R stay lit as the rest of devices turn off. Go into Simappro and turn the backlighting off on each mfd, then turn your pc off. I assign all my WW device lights to a knob on my PTO. I just turn it fully off before powering down my prig Edited April 19 by MustangSally Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir
i3lackAngel Posted April 20 Author Posted April 20 You are absolutely right, they do have individual power switches. All of them are on. And I even tried to take the plug for AMPCD out, and plug one of the DDIs into it. It still wont discover the DDIs, and if I plug my AMPCD into one of the other ports it still sees my AMPCD. As for the backlight, when I go into SimApp, it only shows me the AMPCD. It refuses to show me either of my DDIs (both under "Devices" and "Keybinds"). From which I gather that something is going on with my DDIs that is preventing SimApp from seeing them. Even just now, I am trying the following chain PC > Hub > Left DDI is the only thing plugged into the Hub in the same place where AMPCD was plugged in and working. DDI lights up, but is still not being discovered either by SimApp or by Windows as a plugged in USB device. Thank you so much for trying me to help out with this as I have very little experience with all this hardware. The Hub that I am running is https://a.co/d/dto4NmN If there is a better one of one you know of that works with 14+ USB ports I am more than willing to try.
i3lackAngel Posted April 20 Author Posted April 20 @MustangSally, I would like to start by saying thank you for being so patient with me. It is by pure coincidence that I was able to find the issue. With moving stuff around and testing, the least likely suspect was the culprit. Apparently, @WINWING sent me 2 cables that worked just fine. And two cables that only passed the electricity and not data. As I was testing, I accidentally used one of my cables on the DDI to Hub and one of the "broken" cables on UFC to hub. And all of a sudden DDI worked and UFC didn't. 1
