My experience with 5080

I got a 5080 a few weeks back luckily without too much of a scalp. 
I’m getting 90fps in vr on quest 3 and i upped most settings. Butter smooth. Using dlaa with virtual desktop set at god mode.

I locked the fps @ 90 so it could be higher but why would I need it?

even the Apache and ch47 90 fps at marinas

i came from a 4070ti and would estimate a 30-40% increase 

My system is a I7-14700  64gb ram and 4tb m.2

I would like to learn base on 5080 more if possible?  There are my questions:

1. How is the utilization on GPU in average for FPS @ 90 and the CPU utilization?

2. Is it in OC or normal settings?

3. When fly low closer to the ground or tree, will FPS drops a bit?

I am also getting very good performance with the 5080. Overclocking potential is very good. I have a +10 oc which is stable in DCS. The last NVIDIA driver update has also given me a +5% boost in stock and OC performance. In theory this puts it very close to a stock 4090. 

I previously had a 4070 and the 5080 is +130% faster. I briefly had a 5070ti and the 5080 was about +30% faster in both synthetic benchmarks and in DCS. 

I can manage 90 FPS in many situations with plenty of GPU headroom. But in heavy situations, such as low over a big city, performance drops. 72Hz handles this a lot better. I can manage 72 fps pretty much all the time with very few dropped frames. 

VRAM use is very good and I have not seen this go above 12Gb. 

If anyone is interested I have done some testing with the 5080 and am in the process of looking at the effects of various DCS settings on performance.

@Qcumber, thanks for the very important information, specially in a situation of the play contains many objects around with 72 FPS.... it is still very good FPS.

Can I assume that we can pull the most of DCS settings from medium to high (maybe ultra) without dropping FPS below 60 FPS (I am kind of conservative)?

Yes. You can get away with most settings at high. I'll try to post my settings later.

I did some relative performance testing a few weeks ago with my 5070ti. These were quite basic so I am hoping to repeat these in a more structured way soon with the 5080.

Hi @Qcumber, sorry off the topic a bit.  Has any chance tried the new driver 576.15 yet?  Any impact to DCS, better or worse?  Thanks.

Not yet. I'm away from home this week but was planning to look at this at the weekend.
