DSplayer Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Hey guys, I made a website for those who use or want to use Handoff for the ALR-46 but can't remember which radar is which. It has all the radars that are detectable by the ALR-46 and are mostly labeled and sorted nicely. Please keep in mind the site is very much still WIP. The link is included in the manual btw so you guys can also access the link through the ALR-46's page if you want. Here's a link: https://officialdsplayer.github.io/F-4E-RWR-PRF-Library/ Suggestions are welcome for anyone who has found issues or has any ideas on how to improve the site! 3 6 Discord: @dsplayer Setup: R7 7800X3D, 64GB 6000Mhz, Saitek/Logitech X56 HOTAS, TrackIR + TrackClipPro Resources I've Made: F-4E RWR PRF Sound Player | DCS DTC Web Editor Mods I've Made: F-14 Factory Clean Cockpit Mod | Modern F-14 Weapons Mod | Iranian F-14 Weapons Pack | F-14B Nozzle Percentage Mod + Label Fix | AIM-23 Hawk Mod for F-14
Zabuzard Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Great stuff, thank you for this (and all your previous) awesome contribution
DSplayer Posted yesterday at 08:12 AM Author Posted yesterday at 08:12 AM (edited) I updated my site last week but forgot to post it here for you guys to see. The update included an updated site UI as well as a quiz page for you guys to test yourselves on the RWR library. You can change number of quiz questions, what symbols are tested, what threat categories are tested, and some additional hints for those who would like to make it trickier or easier when testing themselves. You can also share a link to your results with others if you want to show off lol. Also, one of the other changes I didn't previously mention that I had implemented was that the respective RWR symbol is now included for each sound in the RWR where possible. Spoiler Feel free to post any suggestions or feedback! https://officialdsplayer.github.io/F-4E-RWR-PRF-Library/quiz.html Edited yesterday at 08:13 AM by DSplayer 2 Discord: @dsplayer Setup: R7 7800X3D, 64GB 6000Mhz, Saitek/Logitech X56 HOTAS, TrackIR + TrackClipPro Resources I've Made: F-4E RWR PRF Sound Player | DCS DTC Web Editor Mods I've Made: F-14 Factory Clean Cockpit Mod | Modern F-14 Weapons Mod | Iranian F-14 Weapons Pack | F-14B Nozzle Percentage Mod + Label Fix | AIM-23 Hawk Mod for F-14
SuperKermit Posted yesterday at 03:03 PM Posted yesterday at 03:03 PM You're the man! That quiz is really helpful! But if I may make a suggestion, it would be to include the airframe of the respective radar in the provided answers - that's the information which is the most important for me as a pilot in the end.

Heyo, thanks for the suggestion! I've just implemented it. 1 1 Discord: @dsplayer Setup: R7 7800X3D, 64GB 6000Mhz, Saitek/Logitech X56 HOTAS, TrackIR + TrackClipPro Resources I've Made: F-4E RWR PRF Sound Player | DCS DTC Web Editor Mods I've Made: F-14 Factory Clean Cockpit Mod | Modern F-14 Weapons Mod | Iranian F-14 Weapons Pack | F-14B Nozzle Percentage Mod + Label Fix | AIM-23 Hawk Mod for F-14
SuperKermit Posted yesterday at 07:05 PM Posted yesterday at 07:05 PM (edited) Wow, thanks for the quick reaction! However, what I meant is something like in my screenshot. Reason is that it is already hard to match the sound with the corresponding airframe. But knowing which radar type is in that fighter is even one step harder - and frankly not that relevant IMHO. Please excuse, my first post was not very clear in that regard. Edited yesterday at 07:15 PM by SuperKermit

It's something you can disable/enable for added difficulty. 1 Discord: @dsplayer Setup: R7 7800X3D, 64GB 6000Mhz, Saitek/Logitech X56 HOTAS, TrackIR + TrackClipPro Resources I've Made: F-4E RWR PRF Sound Player | DCS DTC Web Editor Mods I've Made: F-14 Factory Clean Cockpit Mod | Modern F-14 Weapons Mod | Iranian F-14 Weapons Pack | F-14B Nozzle Percentage Mod + Label Fix | AIM-23 Hawk Mod for F-14
Zabuzard Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I believe what they wanted to say is that for a non-expert its generally better UX to have the aircraft shown as primary text and the radar name as secondary info than the other way around.Looking at it less from a challenge/practice perspective and more from a usability POV :) 2

Looking at it less from a challenge/practice perspective and more from a usability POV Thanks for explaining! I've implemented a new hint checkbox that users can enable that does almost exactly that: Spoiler Spoiler For the results page I've left it as is since I think it'll be less important after taking the quiz. Czar Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago That 'Play All' button is absolutely cursed!! I was with headphones on. This is some all star work superb database and the 'quiz' is something that adds so much value on the learning experience, some manuals could benefit the inspiration from it. I cannot imagine memorizing all of this, at all. Is it an attainable proficiency to recognize these sounds?! I'll re visit it in the future for sure.
Ivandrov Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago (edited) If you are capable of remembering what each SAM radar is on the RWR, you can definitely put some time in to be able to recall what tone you are listening to. I would say, it's probably more important to just focus on the A2A radars first since they are only sorted as broad groups on the RWR. Ground radars are better sorted out and it's probably sufficient to just recognize which ones will tone change as it goes through its modes. You can also just have it open as you fly, and quiz yourself in the jet if you are comfortable doing so. Match the tones. Edited 20 hours ago by Ivandrov
