Starting campaign: mission 1.

Hello,

after some time studying the Black Shark, this campaign has seemed to me very appropriate to put into practice what I have studied.

Doubts in mission 1 (some beginner doubts):

The COMMS are "guided", right? I mean, you have to tune the R-800 frequency depending on where you are (VHF Bender-Jask - callsign Rubin - 125.500MHz at the departure airport, and VHF Aviation Cruiser Kuznetsov - callsign Volga-1 - 127.300MHz, arriving at carrier) and the rest is done by the AI (request taxiing, communication check, etc).

Does the ADF navigation work or am I doing something wrong? I have tuned it in the ADF panel but have had no feedback on the HSI.

Is it mandatory to keep the formation? I didn't manage to meet the leader at WP1 and arrived much later  but I received no warnings or penalties for this.By the way, winmen 2 and 3 accompanied me, not the leader)

I arrived at the carrier very lost, I did a wrong patter I think it was untimely because I did not pay attention to the comms, and I ended up crashing on the deck. Even so, I think I got the mission for good (Draw).

 

Of course I want to repeat the mission but doing things right.

I have managed to get communications working, I don't know what I was doing wrong before.

I haven't got the NDB thing working yet.

I tested the ARC-22, it works great.
Kuznetsov's NDB on channel 4 was caught right at the parking lot at the beginning of the mission. In the first mission.
In the second mission, both channel 1 and channel 4 also work.

Yes, all you need to do is set the desired frequency and listen to radio communications. The radio menu is only needed to control the wingman.

This is not ADF. You need to configure the ARC channels.
It is on the right panel

You need to follow the leader.
Before departing, the leader is waiting for you in orbit, you need to approach him so that he sees you and starts the mission.
Otherwise, you can fly away alone without him, and the mission will not continue.
You do not have to fly wing to wing. But keep in mind that if you hear - stand in formation, this means that your leader is waiting for you in orbit. You need to approach 500-1000 feet.

Wingman 3 and 4 follow you specifically for your safety.
If they were following the leader in their positions, the player would feel uncomfortable in the formation, too close between the two AI.

Regarding the ADF, I am using the ADF panel you show in the picture (not the ADF swich on the R-800). Supposedly once tuned (plus I think I have to turn off the WP button on the PVI) I should have feedback on the HSI, is that correct? It is very possible that more than a problem of the mission it is my ignorance of how to handle the ADF.

In any case, following the training and the WP, there is no need for the ADF

Yes. RMI bearing to radio station (according to manual).
Strange. When you notice that Pre-set ADF channels in the next game, save the track please.

I will. But I anticipate that it may be more my problem handling the ADF than DCS's... we'll see.

Well, everything is working properly. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but now I receive both NDBs and the communications work. It was my mistake.
By the way, when I activate the altitude PA the warning on the upper panel does not light up. I don't know why, could it have something to do with a bad alignment? Thanks!
