GUI main screen and Mission Screen Blank

Bug description:

 

The very first screen of the gui is partially blank. Also, the mission briefing screen. Game runs fine otherwise, can play no problem. Have tried to reinstall game. Screenshots attached.

 

Steps to reproduce / Conditions of occurence

Happens every time

PC Configuration

XP PRO SP3

AMD athlon 64 x2 4200+

ATI x1800

2gb pc2-6400 ram

Direct X 9.0c

You need to disble the Catalyst AI.

Many with similar problems here, it should fix yours too :)

Oh and try the ATI 8.12 drivers

Or 9.6. There were reports of that one fixing issues as well, though not with quite the same reliability as 8.12.

Thanks for your suggestions. Alas no luck. I disabled catlyst AI. No joy. Then I updated catalyst to 9.3. No joy either. My vid card is apparently legacy now and that is the highest version i can go. I had catalyst 9.1. Perhaps i shall seek this fabled 8.12... :(

"Updating" to 9.3 is the same as "updating" to one of the versions that had the most problems. Either 8.12 or try 9.6 or newer.

I had the same issues with my old and trusty 1950pro on everything above 8.12 ....

 

With my new 4850 everything is fine with Cat9.6, though :)

Fixed with 8.12 drivers. Thanks for everyone's help.

Have this same problem. While installing the older drivers work, it also makes every other game on my PC to run with problems.

 

So essentially am I going to have to either be constantly changing my drivers between 8.12 and 9.3, or spend a few hundred dollars upgrading my computer to a card that supports 9.6 drivers (Will have to buy a new PSU).

btw, what is the GUI slider for in the Graphics menu of Black Shark. I tried some adjustments when having graphics problems with my video card, and it seems to change the Antisotropic filter settings (AAF video card settings..)tearing and such,,, I looked for an explanation (in some help files..) of the items in the menu in Black Shark and could not find info on the GUI slider...

I am now trying Catalyst 8.11. All the newer ones gave me problems, between Black Shark and IL-2 1946. But, I think my Radeon video card is being a pain in the butt..
