Fourleaf Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM Hi everyone, looking for some feedback on my selection of parts for my new PC. Hoping to run VR and occasional flatscreen. Haven’t decided yet on a VR headset either. Any recommendations? Qcumber Posted yesterday at 11:02 AM Posted yesterday at 11:02 AM That is similar to my setup. I would avoid 4 sticks of RAM as there can be stability issues with the Ryzen CPU. You are unlikely to need more than 64GB at the moment anyway. Another option would be 2 sticks of 48GB. This should be able to run any headset PK. However, if you have not tried VR before please be aware that it is very demanding and you have to manage expectations in terms of quality and performance. 1 PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). Fourleaf Posted yesterday at 11:22 AM Author Posted yesterday at 11:22 AM Any sort of recommendation for a headset? I have a Quest 2 I’ve used a bit previously but the resolution was too low to be usable. What sort of graphic settings can you set for it to run smoothly, both with VR and flatscreen? thanks!

I would advise sticking with the Q2 for now and get to learn all the tricks for VR. If you find the resolution to low then you need to supersample. If you are using quest link then I would use cable. Use oculus debug tool (Google how to locate it in your Meta folders) and set super sampling to about 1.5. Set the Bitrate to about 700 Mbps and see how it looks. Once you have a better idea about how to use VR then look for an upgrade. There is nothing perfect at the moment. Don't always assume that the highest native resolution will be the best. 1 PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). Aapje Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I don't really agree on sticking with the Q2. I found the Quest 3 to be a huge step up in quality.
ChariotOfFLAME Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I think getting used to the VR quirks with the Q2 is good advice, then switch up to Q3 when you feel like you’re in the groove
